Bachelorette Recap (Episode 1)
The Bachelorette is back & so are my recaps!! I decided to do the recaps in their own post just in case there are some of you who would prefer to read them on their own instead of mixed in with my Friday posts or vice versa, plus doing them on the weekends gives me a little bit of extra time which I'm needing this year (thank you for understanding)!
Get ready because based on all of the rumors that have been swirling, it sounds like this season is gonna be wild!
Going into this season, I have some mixed feelings. It's not that I don't like Clare, but I also don't like love her. She is DANG sassy & has a big personality for such a small little body. & she's all about standing up for herself which I actually think is a message that a lot of the girls in today's society need to hear! Clare is quite a bit older than the previous bachelorettes have been & than the typical contestants are & I'm sure she's taken a lot of heat for that. But speaking as someone who's still single (& yes I know I'm still "young"), but pretty much all of my friends are married & some are even mamas, it's kinda tough sometimes. I relate to Clare on some levels, like when she said “I'm tired of braving this world alone and having to be strong all the damn time.” Preach honey. I'm not trying to get too deep here, but I'm all for supporting Clare in the journey of finding her person, no matter how old she is when she finds him & however she chooses to get there.
Night one is always a bit overwhelming because there are so many guys & I can't keep them all straight lol. I can't imagine being the actual bachelorette! I will say, some of them had some GOOD first impressions & pick-up lines. Overall it seems like she's got a really great group of guys that are fun & outgoing & hopefully will make this season entertaining for us viewers! Of course though, she's got some d-bags as well. It wouldn't be the bachelorette without them!
Below are some of the men who caught my eye, for good reasons or bad. ;)
1. Bennet. Scarf guy. He creeped me out. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt & the opportunity to redeem himself, but even watching the previews he seems creepy.
2. Okay my first thought when Eazy jumped through the huge paper banner was that I love him! Like I wanna be his friend! I'm here for the pink outfit & finger guns, Eazy! ... But then he started to get annoying because he's so cocky lol I'm picky, I know (wonder why I started out this post talking about my own singleness lol).
3. A note I wrote to myself while watching: figure out who that guy was that used a farting bare butt to fake propose as his limo entrance. I figured it out. It was Zach J. & it was very much not okay.
4. Dale is a cutie & Clare clearly really likes him, like instantly-thought-he-was-her-future-husband kind of likes him! I'm not sure if I believe in love at first sight, but she clearly does & I'm happy for her if this is it!
5. Yosef the brosef. I'm not really a fan of this dude, Yo. Sorry not sorry.
6. Tyler C. Brosef called him mini McConaughey & I instantly bursted out into a strong giggle. That was a good one, brosef!
7. As someone who works in the helping profession, I didn't love that Jay wore a straight jacket & made light of the struggles & abuse that makes up much of the history with mentally ill persons, however, I did get a kick out of it because they kept him in that thing ALL NIGHT! That is the definition of commitment, producers!! & Jay, I mean honestly, what did you expect? All I can say is that if I would've had to stay in a straight jacket for that long, I would've freaked the freak out.
