Bachelorette Recap (Episode 4)
Wowza. I avoided watching this episode like I avoid people in Walmart who are coughing or sneezing #swerve #coronavirus. I get that The Bachelor / Bachelorette is a staged show (c'mon don't deny it, we all know it is), but like seriously this is too much. Too ridiculous. Too far. Too fast. I said it in the beginning & I'll say it again, I'm all for Clare finding her person. However, I'm also a very big rule follower & believe that there is a process for things for a reason. So Clare, I'm happy for you, but I'm also pretty annoyed at you & feel pretty bad for these guys that quarantined for weeks for you! Ugh alright I shared my peace, so here we go.
Clare's 1:1 with Chris Harrison... (lol)
First of all, Clare! You do not "completely respect the process of this" if you're calling Dale your fiance on the third episode *before* y'all are actually even engaged! That is one example of how she does not respect this process. If I had the time or energy, I'm sure I could come up with more!
Let's talk about the social media aspect of this situation for a minute. Clare admitted to social media stalking all of the men before coming onto the show, but claims she never had a conversation / contact / nothing with Dale prior to the show starting. I use the word "claims" because I'm honestly not sure if I believe her #justsayin'. Social media has the potential to make or break things. It's so easy to create this idea of someone in our heads based on their social media platforms. It's interesting to me that even just after stalking the men, she was pretty much only into Dale, even before she had the chance to meet any of them in person!
Leave it to Chris Harrison to make this even more dramatic than Clare is making it lol.
Clare's 1:1 with Dale...
I don't like her weird whispers when she talks with Dale. It SO reminds me of Krystal from Colton's season lol please stop.
(Okay I'm half of a glass of wine in at this point because tbh I'm kinda miserable watching this episode lol but I'm not sure if there's a nicer way to say what I'm about to say so just hang with me). Dale & Clare are both members of The Dead Parents Club. & I do think that there's a connection that the two of them will share simply because of that membership. For me, I have absolutely no idea what it feels like to have experienced the loss of a parent (& I hope I don't have to for a very very long time). With that being said, that connection is probably a good foundation for friendship & support, but does it go deeper? She sure seems to think so. & I feel like he's reciprocating it, but maybe not quite at her same level? Like his face barely even changed when she told him she's so falling in love with him.
*okay that very strange kiss at the end where Dale was trying to kiss her & she was just smiling & he was like kissing her teeth like just ew lol what the heck*
However, as a single young adult (& also someone who identifies as a hopeless romantic) Clare's (crazy) story gives me a bit of hope still. She said, "I've been waiting forever for this feeling. & to every single person who has ever told me to settle & that the man I'm looking for is not out there, like I'm having dinner with him right now" & I felt that deeply. Where's my Dale Moss?! (Not sure if that was me or the wine talking lol). But really, the way that Clare is feeling right now ... isn't that how all girls want to feel?
Clare's second 1:1 with Chris Harrison... (lol again)
Clare reminiscing on her overnight date with Dale & she is just as smittin kitten as when we left her. Then! Chris says... the next step, proposal. Omg Chris don't rush them into it even more!!! Stop it! Slow down! Ugh the planner in me is just freaking the freak out about this lol.
Clare's talk with the men...
Oh my crap. Their faces. Ugh. My heart cracked open just a tiny bit for them. In my opinion, they have every right to feel pissed, hurt, angry, confused, all of it. My jaw pretty much hit the floor when boy band manager Kenny completely roasted Clare & told her that she should apologize. To an extent, I agree with him!
Ugh poor Jason. I called it during that episode when he completely broke down his walls to be open & honest & vulnerable with her. You can't tell me that she didn't know in that moment even that Dale was already ahead of the rest of the men & that the deep + personal conversations she was having with Jason would take something from him that wasn't hers to have.
Oh sweet Blake. Buying books in dementia & alzheimer's just so that he could better understand Clare ... that is truly one of the sweetest things I've heard in a while.
Bless the poor boy who should read books on how to understand me LOL.
Dale's 1:1 with Chris Harrison...
Dale mentioned that he feels like he's in a good place with Clare where there's no pressure & no rush to things. Little does he know that Chris Harrison is on his way over to *tell* him to propose tonight!
time for Dale to propose...
Clare says that Dale embodies everything that she wants in a man, but honestly, can you truly know that after only a couple of weeks? Like truly? I hate to say it & underestimate their relationship / connection, but I feel like this is more of lust or infatuation vs. love. I sure hope for their sake that they end up together for the long run because this would be a major major break up.
Clare said she's waited a lot of years for this but I have a faint memory in my head of her getting engaged once before on the show... ;)
This is truly one of the strangest proposals I've ever watched on this show. Talking about their love story, Clare said, "I felt it" & Dale said, "I accepted it". Lol that's not exactly how it's supposed to be, buddy!
Oh well, I suppose I'll try my best to be happy for them!
restarting the bachelorette...
A couple of quick thoughts...
It makes me kind of sad for Tayshia that she gets Clare's "leftover" men.
Maybe Clare should've gone on Married At First Sight instead of The Bachelorette?
Okay but really.
