Hi everyone! If you’re new here, I’m Sara, Alli’s mom. I pop onto the blog from time to time whenever I share something with Alli that she really likes & thinks other people need to know about. So in other words, not often haha!

I’m the mom of four, two adult(ish) kids & two teenage girls still at home (but not for long because one of them is headed to college in the fall * insert sad face here *).

This time of year it is SO easy to slip into old bad habits. The end of the year is near & gone are all of the great routines that we set in place at the beginning of the school year. I feel like my at-home girls are often scrambling, running late, & forgetting things at home. If I’m honest, I’m pretty much puttering out this time of year & am really not setting the best example. So, a couple of nights ago at dinner, we had a long talk. I asked my girls (& myself & Randy) the following question:

What can you do today that your tomorrow self will be thankful for?

We had some great conversation around this topic & with some quick brainstorming, we came up with the following ideas:

  • pack my lunch

  • pack my track bag / lay out my dance clothes

  • pick up the popcorn bowls & gatorade bottles after my friends leave instead of waiting until the morning

  • start studying for that test that’s not for a few days

  • do a load of laundry instead of saving it all for the weekend

  • write out tomorrow’s to-do list (so that I don’t lay in bed worrying if I will forget to do something)

We decided that every night after dinner we’re going to ask ourselves that question & see what we can do to make our tomorrow selves just a little more thankful! What about you? What does your life look like right now? Are there things you could do today that your tomorrow self would be thankful for?

Blessings,

Mama Rice
