Feel Good Friday
The last few weeks have been pretty crazy for me as my new job as a middle school counselor started, but I promise I'm going to get in a good groove here soon. I have SO much that I want to share with you!
what we've been up to...
Lately pretty much all that I've been up to is planning, planning, planning. & settling in as much as I can. In my classroom...
& in my apartment...
In case you missed it, check out the following links to see my posts about these spaces...
My type A personality has really been shining through lately & I've been working hard to get all settled in so that I can feel some peace in my surroundings! Some people thrive in chaos & I so wish I was some people, but I am not! What about you?
In other news, they have made some good progress on my parent's sunroom & they are getting so excited about it! Here's what I picture when I think of this space: Coming over on a Saturday. My Mom is making chili. My Dad is complaining about the jalepanos, but my Mom secretly puts them in anyway. The windows are open & crisp fall air is coming in. Of course there's a fall scented Bath & Body candle burning as well. We go into the sunroom to watch football. Life is good.
They ordered some furniture! This sectional & two of the swivel chairs. I love what they chose & can't wait to see it all come together! I feel like it's going to be the perfect blend of feeling like a screened in porch & an indoor sunroom.
friday favs...
Since I told you I've been working on getting settled, I thought it would only be appropriate to share some of my organizational finds.
I've seen these makeup organizers & finally convinced myself to try it out. I didn't totally understand the point honestly. I just threw everything into a bag & called it good. But since I got a new little desk / vanity for getting ready, I thought it would look really cute & I have the room so why not. & to my surprise, I actually really love it! It's incredibly helpful for getting ready quickly -- everything is right there in the open so you can grab certain things. I don't have to worry about makeup breaking or one of my foundations leaking over everything. It manages the space very efficiently so my bottom drawer is actually completely empty, even though my makeup bag was full. A much better way to care for your makeup & it's cute, too!
A couple months ago I ordered a few pairs of new glasses & they recently came in! I’m such an organizer, so of course when I saw this glasses organizer case on Amazon, I was hooked. It holds nine pairs of glasses & actually looks really cute sitting in my bathroom! Pictures of my new glasses will be coming soon!
I bought these woven baskets to use to store snacks & coffee stuff in my coffee bar in my office. It came as a set of four so I was able to use the other two at home in my apartment! They are so cute & while the price seems a bit high, it breaks down to be $15.49 each so I was happy with that! They fold flat for easy storage when you aren't using them, but personally I think I will always have them out somewhere!
We won't have students in our building until September, so everyone wears comfy clothes pretty much everyday & I'm super thankful for that! I'll share below a few of the pieces that I've been getting tons of use out of these past couple of weeks. I've shared most of them before, but I had no idea how awesome they were until they're what I'm reaching for & wanting to put on every morning.
Absolutely loving the tie dye trend lately. This thin little sweatshirt from Old Navy could not be more perfect for the current season -- the weather is just starting to drop to the 80s which means sweatshirts & shorts it is. The back of this top is a little bit longer so it'll work great for leggings too! It comes in two other color options & is less than $20 right now!

Tank, shorts & shoes are all from Target! These grey shorts are absolutely wonderful for summertime! They’re a very stretchy lightweight material that is quick dry & moisture wicking. There’s nothing more I could want from a pair of comfy athletic shorts! These shorts have been really great for days spent working in my office because they're not like typical running shorts. They offer really good coverage & are modest which is important to me. This basic black athletic tank is super awesome too. I’m always looking for basic tanks that will go with lots of different outfits. One of the things I like so much about this tank is that it has a high neck line. That’s hard to find with a lot of athletic tanks! It’s currently $12 & comes in eleven other colors. Both the tank & shorts are true to size!

A comfy tank + shorts is my go-to outfit in the summer when I’m running around doing who knows what! You never know when you’re going to be outside & get sweaty. I don’t even feel like I need to say much about this grey burnout tank because just looking at it, it speaks for itself. It is SO cute! Mine came in the mail knotted in the front, but it you definitely don’t have to leave it. I just thought it was cute like that & have left mine! The best part of this tank? It’s literally $12 & comes in two other colors! I’m wearing my normal size & I would say it’s just a tad oversized — leaving me enough room to knot it in the front, or unknot it & have it cover my booty with leggings. A staple summer piece from here on out!

On the days I wake up & feeling dressing up just a smidge more than usual, this is often an outfit I find myself reaching for. You can tell by the content smile on my face how happy & relaxed I feel in this outfit! Typically my top priority when trying on clothes to buy or picking out an outfit is comfort — I want to feel relaxed & comfortable in my clothing. This little outfit checks off my comfort box & many others! I’m a big tank top lover & I honestly find that I can wear them year round. Add a cute cardigan, a utility jacket or denim jacket & you’re good to go! This black & white striped tank is different from all of my other neutral striped tanks (which I have many of) because of the material & it’s fit. It’s more of a muscle tank than a racerback which I actually really like! The material is thick, but breathable & is super good quality. It’s true to size, but does hang a bit longer which I like in case I ever want to wear it with leggings. & of course, I’ve shared these light wash soft denim shorts many times, but that’s how much I love them — they’re the pair that I always reach for!

Pretty much everywhere I go indoors I'm freezing because of the air conditioning! I try to not wear linen pants every single day, but you win some & you lose some. Not long ago I grabbed this rust orange pair from Target & they are fantastic! They’re incredibly light + thin, but not see through. They are very high rise (which I love) & the waist has a functional draw string. I’m 4’11” & they fall at a great length just above my ankle so for all my other shortys out there, these are the pants for you! They are true to size & come in a few other color options as well.

Loving this linen on linen look! Mustard is one of my favorite colors & I personally think it’s fitting year round — super cute in summer & in winter too! I like it because it pairs well with browns & blacks which is a good chunk of my wardrobe. I love how easy this outfit is to put together & how effortless it looks. Another great option for school starting in the fall!

Personal opinion: We can never have enough reminders to be kind to those around us! I’m a t-shirt kind of girl so this outfit is right up my alley. All the way down to the pink birks!

Zoom meetings on zoom meetings on zoom meetings. It's important to me that if I'm in a place where others can hear my meeting that I have a way to block them out. I found this pair over the summer & they have come in SO handy lately! A couple of months ago, I was on the hunt for some because mine were like seven years old & it was just time to retire those bad boys. I found these on Amazon & I was blown away by the price & quality. These new headphones made me realize how junky my old ones really were! So easy to put on & they don’t move at all (& I have super small ears!) which is really great. They come in a bunch of different colors, but I thought this grey & choral color was perfect for summer. They're bluetooth & wireless so they're great for going on walks or exercising as well!

A product from The Ordinary that I’ve incorporated into my skincare routine is the caffeine solution 5% + EGCG drops. Their purpose is to help with dark under eye puffiness. I’ve been using these drops, both at morning & at night, for a couple of months & I feel like I can really tell a difference! Especially about an hour after I’ve used the drops — my under eyes look much less baggy.
& of course I've gotta share what I've been putting on after work... because comfy clothes during the day is simply not enough lol I still have got to lounge & veg out when I get home!
Such a cute & cozy little lounge set! I love this set because it’s very thin which makes it feel light & airy — perfect for the summer when you get a little bit chilly in your air conditioned house. I got this set in oatmeal & navy stripe, but my Mom got it in rust & cream stripe which is just as cute! The set unfortunately doesn’t come together, so you have to buy each piece separately. That’s actually kind of fun though because it shows you how easy it is to mix & match these pieces with other things you might have in your closet. Looking forward to wearing this into the fall, too!

Both of the grey bottoms below are the exact same as the oatmeal & navy striped ones pictured above! I loved how comfortable, soft & airy the shorts were so when I saw them in more neutral colors, I knew I had to snag them. Both the black tank & the white tank below are the same as well! So easy to mix & match!

Y’all know I love stripes, so incorporating them into my outfits by layering them under a long sleeve while the mornings are still a little crisp is a go-to for me.

I think we are going to do a bit of back to school shopping on Sunday, so hopefully I find some great things to share!
What are your plans for the weekend? Drop them below in the comments, or feel free to message us on Facebook or Instagram! We’d love to hear what you’re all up to. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
