Feel Good Friday
Happy Friday, sisters! Only one more week until Christmas break. But who's counting? (Me, definitely me).
what we've been up to...
Okay so last Friday was my first game as cheer coach & y'all know how excited (& anxious) I was & boy was it memorable lol here's how things went... I picked up the vehicle I was assigned to for transportation & was shocked that I couldn't reach the pedals. Like seriously. I scooted the seat as far forward as it would go, but still had to scoot my body up in the seat so much that my back didn't touch the back of the seat! So that already made me feel a bit more anxious. I drive across town to the school's parking lot to pick up the girls. Once everyone was loaded & buckled, we started on our way.
As we were heading out of town on the old highway, I noticed that the vehicle was making some very loud, very weird noises. I asked the girls if that was normal & got "ehh I think so?" answers. A couple of minutes later, one of the girls in the back told me that there was smoke behind us -- I couldn't see out of the back window because I had so many girls, so when I looked in the side rearview mirrors & saw what she was talking about, I knew we had a problem! I pulled into a random person's driveway in the country & as the vehicle began to slow down, we noticed that the smoke was coming from the hood & it started pouring into the car! It smelled SO bad & we were all freaking the freak out! I parked & we all bailed out. I had the girls go far away because I had no idea what was going on -- is it going to catch on fire? Is it going to blow up? Did I do something wrong?
As we're all standing in the middle of a random field in front of a random person's house watching the vehicle smoke, I called the athletic director who set up my transportation. He's also our girl's basketball coach & I figured they'd be warming up already so I felt really bad calling him, but I also had no idea what to do! He got me in contact with our maintenance person who drove out in a new van to meet us. As all of that was happening, a man pulled into the gravel drive behind us & hopped out of his big black truck. The girls started talking to him & (me being new) I had no idea who he was. It turns out he's my assistant coach's husband who luckily is a mechanic! He had been feeding cattle just down the road & saw us driving by smoking. He said, "I figured you'd stop at some point so I just followed". L O L. He popped the hood & determined that we had blown a heater hose & reassured the girls that no, the vehicle would not have blown up. Our maintenance guy came out in a new van & we swapped vehicles. He got in the smoking car & big-black-truck-guy towed him into town & us girls started on our way again. We eventually made it to the games & the girls did a great job cheering on our teams!
It was honestly the most scared I've ever been in a vehicle just because I had no idea what was going on AND I was in freaking charge of seven screaming high school girls!!!!! The girls joked that it was my initiation. Ha. Ha. Ha.
Last Saturday my parents & grandma came to visit me! My grandma hadn't seen my house yet so it was really fun to show her around the place I'm now calling home. We did a bit of shopping -- got some delicious-smelling soy candles at a local shop & had a tasty lunch at a local cafe, then drove to the nearest Hobby Lobby, Target & Sam's. These are some of my favorite places to shop but dang not during the Christmas season. I'm the type of person who has a bubble. It's pretty big & pops easily. I do not go well with Christmas-shopping-season lol. We ended the afternoon with Starbucks which is always a must!
On Sunday my sisters came into town & we hung out for a few hours & watched a movie! I'm so thankful to be living closer to home where day trips are possible.
This school week was packed full of all kinds of busy things! It was my high school's preseason basketball tournament so I had games (cheer) on Tuesday, tonight & tomorrow. All in all it was a busy, but fun week!
Also, my dad starting having some health issues again this week. Back in the summer he got really sick. He saw multiple doctors who determined that he needs to have surgery to remove his gall bladder, but not necessarily right away. Well, he had another attack & is having surgery today to have his gall bladder removed. It gave us a good look into the shocking realities of what's going on in the health field... he had to be transferred because there wasn't a bed for him & my mom almost wasn't able to go with him. I appreciate all of your kind words, thoughts & prayers!
outfits of the week…
For the past month or so I’ve started *trying* to consistently share my OOTD (outfit of the day) just for fun! I’m typically able to link most pieces, but I also just share it to hopefully give a bit of inspiration & show you that you can recreate my outfits by just using pieces from your own closet.
Monday...
Always looking to be comfy & cozy, especially on a cold Monday morning! I'm wearing an XS in this top & it is definitely oversized!

Tuesday...
I've shared this chenille sweater before but I seriously always reach for it because it's so stinking soft & cozy! My office at the school is always FREEZING so I try to wear things that will keep me as warm as possible.

Wednesday...
I stayed home on Wednesday because I woke up with a horrible migraine & an upset stomach. I spent pretty much the entire day in bed catching up on some much needed sleep.
Thursday...
At the middle school that I work at, on Thursdays we all wear something that is school colors or has our school’s name on it just to support athletics (middle school typically has games on Thursdays) & show school spirit. If you dress up, you get a sucker at lunch. It’s pretty cute & is a fun little tradition that I’m loving this year! Each student & staff member at the middle school got this t-shirt at the beginning of the year so that there's no way that a student can't participate. It's one of my favorites because it's so soft & it's fun to "twin" with my students lol.

In case you missed it, this week I shared a quick little post on how I've decorated my new house for Christmas. I linked to as many things as I could & you can view that post here.
friday favs...
I thought it would be a fun idea to share some outfits this week that are perfect for the workplace! I've got some casual options & some dressier options as well. Keep scrolling to see some of my favs!
Okay first up is the most darling + feminine blouse I think I've ever gotten from Target. The waist line cinches at the perfect place & then flares out just a bit at the bottom to really give the impression of a thin waist -- so incredibly flattering! Plus the subtle balloon sleeve is adorable as well. This pattern is everything. I paired it with navy pixie pants (my go-to work pants) & some mules. This outfit is just so stinking precious -- there's nothing I don't like about it!!!

I was so excited to try on this top that I didn't even fluff it first lol! This material is super nice & (surprisingly) is not see through, which I'm pretty pleased about, & it is true to size. It has a nice high neckline (with a button in the back) & the smocking around the neck / chest / shoulder area is really cute. The sleeves gather towards the end & then have a bit of extra material to create a frill kind of look which is super super cute & feminine! Love this piece!

Y'all know I like my clothes to be somewhat oversized -- it's just a personal preference. So of course I'm all over ponchos, especially this mustard one from Amazon! A secret about this top is that it actually doesn't have arm holes. I know, sounds pretty bizarre, but the material is a really thick & heavy material so the way it lays, you don't even need to have your arms in holes to keep it in place. My favorite way to wear ponchos is with a slim fit black + white striped long sleeve underneath & with either jeans or leggings. All about the cute + comfy look!

I decided to take a big ole step out of my comfort zone & order these checkered work pants & I'm so glad I did because they surprised the heck out of me! I think they're supposed to be a little bit cropped, but they're not on me... #shortgirlprobs. But I still love them! The waist cinches really nicely & creates a super flattering shape -- even for dress pants! I decided to pair it with my all time favorite black sweater because this is how I pictured wearing it when I ordered it & I love it! I ordered my true size & they fit great.

Okay if I even have to convince you a little bit to get this skirt then something is wrong with you, honey. So stinking darling!!! I love the tiered levels & how great it looks styled for fall. I can only imagine how much use I'll get out of it in the spring & summer months, but dang it looks cute like this too! Also, it's 50% OFF making it less than $20!!!
