Feel Good Friday
Hello all! I hope you had a wonderful week celebrating our Savior's birth! Christmas is always such a wonderful time of year. How lucky am I to be able to spend it with those I love! We kept things simple this week as our main focus lately has been spending time with the loved ones around us. Next week things will be back to normal with our regular posts & content!
We started off Christmas Eve with a late breakfast/early lunch at Cracker Barrel. Is there anything better than good breakfast food? We then went to church & then headed home for an evening of snacks + board games. I wish I would've taken a picture of the kitchen because we had quite the spread!
One of our favorite Christmas traditions is opening matching pajamas on Christmas Eve & this year, my mom killed the game! The girls got a fleece red + white striped two-piece set & the best part is that the pants are joggers! She also got us these incredibly soft grey robes. I'll definitely be wearing mine anytime I'm hanging out at home! Ethan got a sherpa-lined red sweatshirt that he's pretty happy about because it's cool enough to be worn in public & it'll keep him warm on his long walks to campus.
Overall it was a really wonderful Christmas Eve & Christmas Day & I hope it was for you as well!
The past couple of years my dad has worked on a house project over the Christmas Break. Last year, we revamped the basement & put in a projector & stadium seating for the couches. This year, we added surround sound & backed up the projector so now it basically covers an entire wall lol. It may seem a little extra, but by golly it's pretty darn awesome to feel like you're in a movie theatre in your own basement!
On New Year's Eve Day we enjoyed the new 'home theatre' by cheering on the K-State Wildcats in the Liberty Bowl. It was a tough loss, but the Rice Fam was proud of how hard they fought & it really was a pretty good game to watch. My brother Ethan went to Memphis to go to the game with some friends -- I'm still not sure who had the better view. ;)
Our New Year's Eve celebration was pretty low key. I was talking to a friend the other day about how when we were younger, watching the ball drop on TV used to be the coolest thing ever. One of my fondest memories of New Year's Eve is spending it at my great-grandma's apartment with extended family on my mom's side. My cousins & I ran up to my great-grandma's apartment room & watched Justin Bieber's performance & then watched the ball drop. When I think back on that moment, I feel complete joy + happiness & it makes my heart smile. Times were so much simpler back then! *sighs*
Did you stay in or go out for New Year's Eve?
friday favs...
Ulta is having their shampoo & conditioner liter sale! It goes through the 25th & is free shipping on orders over $50! This is my favorite shampoo & conditioner right now. It makes my hair SO soft & silky & I love it!
I've had pretty much every hair color under the sun since I first started coloring it when I was a freshman in high school -- I've been platinum blonde to almost black. My poor mom lol she never knew what I was going to come back with when I left for the beauty salon! I haven't colored my hair since last April & my hair is back to my natural color which is a kind of dirty blonde color. I talked to my hair dresser about ways to prevent my hair from looking brassy & she recommended this purple shampoo & conditioner by Redken. I bought a little sample packet & ended up loving it! I use this on my hair about once a week to once every two weeks (kind of just whenever I remember to be honest). These products give your hair a little toning & would be great for any blondes out there!
This sale is such a steal so if you're wanting to stock up, I'd do it now! A few of their other products are on sale as well so be sure to check it out if you're interested in trying something new or want to stock up on some of your favorite products.
In case you missed it, this week we shared our latest book review which you can find here.
to look forward to...
Next week we'll be sharing our monthly 12 things we're loving post, but this month will be a Christmas gift recap edition! Each one of us will share three of our favorite Christmas gifts & why we love them. We'll also be sharing our thoughts on New Years Resolutions & you might be surprised by what we have to say. Stay tuned!
weekend plans...
This weekend I'll be attending my first wedding of this year! ;) It's for one of my closest friends from college & I couldn't be more excited! I know that the wedding itself will be absolutely beautiful & that the decorations will be too as Addy & her family are such wonderful hosts.
Then on Sunday I'll be headed back to Manhattan to begin spring semester. This school year is going by SO fast! What are your plans for the weekend? Drop them below in the comments, or feel free to message us on Facebook or Instagram! We'd love to hear what you're all up to. We hope you all have a wonderful & cozy weekend!
