Rapunzel Wannabe
Ever since I started dying my hair in 8th grade I’ve been hooked. I’m one of those people that loves a change & I’m not afraid to do drastic things to my hair... bless my mom’s heart. I’ve been platinum blonde to basically black, I once had a red streak for state basketball (school spirit to the max, right?) & you betcha I had those clip-in hair feathers! I’ve had straight across bangs, angled bangs, a bob & hair down to my mid-back. I even had a perm a couple years ago! I’ve toned it down in recent years & currently I’m back to my natural color which is dirty blonde with some almost red-ish hues (but I’m feeling the need for a change so we’ll see how long this lasts ;) ).
Lately Rapunzel has been my hair goals. One of my friends recently commented on how long my hair is getting & I was all "omg thank you for noticing" because y'all it's hard work when every five minutes I have to talk myself out of cutting it off!!! I saw this on Facebook the other day & it accurately explains how I feel...
Anyways, I thought I would share some tips + tricks to growing out your hair! Now I'm not going to share some fancy pill (unless the SugarBearHair people see this & want to sponsor me because I'm not gonna lie, those look yummy & cool), I just want to share what I've been doing & using that has been working really good for my hair & the goals I have for it.
As often as I can, I try to let my hair be completely natural. That sometimes means that on the weekends I let my hair go an extra day in the grease department, or I'll shower & not put any product in or do any styling. I think it's good for hair to sit & nourish itself -- whatever that looks like. But since I regularly use hot styling tools, it's important that I'm using good products that will promote growth & protection for my hair.

It's taken me a lot of years & a lot of dollars to find products that I fully love & that have truly done good things for my hair. I am a fairly oily person & I used to shower every single day because of it. However, now I wash my hair every 2-3 days (sometimes even longer!) thanks to dry shampoo & learning to be comfortable in my own funk. Now, I've heard rumors that dry shampoo isn't good for your hair / scalp, but it works for me & I'm sticking with it. I love this dry shampoo specifically for brunettes. It smells wonderful & while I feel like it still leaves behind a bit of grey-ish tint in my hair, it's definitely not as noticeable as regular dry shampoo.
One of the times during the week that I do wash my hair, I'll use this Living Proof Restore Hair Mask Treatment. This is one of my current favorites & it’s very easy to use. I put it in after I shampoo & leave it on while I shave & wash my body. Rinse it out & your hair will feel wonderful.
I'm all about time efficiency & I've found that when I actually take the time to fix my hair, it saves me more time in the long run (& I touch it less, isn't that interesting?) because I can usually get at least two, sometimes three days out of it. To set myself up for success, I need a good product that will help tame my hair & not let it be too frizzy. This is where FAVE4HAIR smooth for sure blow out cream comes into play. This stuff is bomb. My hair has never felt softer & looked more shiny than when I use this product & then blow dry my hair with my blow dryer brush (which you’ll see below). I apply a nickel-sized amount & work it through my towel-dried hair & then blow dry. Such an easy way to save time & energy & protect your hair all in one.
Because I pretty regularly use hot styling tools, I struggle with split, frayed or dry ends. To keep them as healthy & strong as long as possible, I use this CAVIAR Anti-Aging Bond Repair ends serum. It instructs you to apply it before bed & shower it out the next morning, but I actually use it after I style my hair & leave it in until the next time I shower. It can’t hurt anything to have some extra moisture there. Plus it smells so darn good that I don’t want it to go away! A little goes a really long way with this product. I use about a pea-sized amount total for all of my ends! If you use too much, it can look greasy.
I’m one of those people who doesn’t really like blow-drying my hair because it takes so long, I typically get pretty hot, & my hair is usually a frizzy afro when I finish. This hair dryer brush has been truly life changing! Avery got one for her birthday, I tried it once & immediately put it on my wish list. It cuts my blow dry time in half, I don’t get overheated because it only blows from certain angles, & because you brush it as you dry it, my final product is smooth & I’m able to leave the house just like that! This tool is wonderful & I use it almost every time after I shower. (The final product is even better when I use the FAVE4HAIR smooth for sure blow dryer cream)! I know it's best to not use hot styling tools often, but I do, especially this one. I think it all works out in the end though because if I blow dry my hair with this, then I don't have to use any other styling tool & I get multiple days out of it!
That's all I've got for now! If you've heard of any products or styling tools that you'd like me to review, drop a comment below & I'll test it out & give an honest review!
