Sister Spring Break Trip 2022 — Waco, TX
FINALLY getting around to putting this post together sharing about my sister spring break trip to Waco this past spring! It was by far one of our favorite places & we talk all the time about how we want to go back! Our dad has never been there so we’re hoping we can take him soon which gives us a great excuse to go back. ;) Anyway, if you know me at all, you know I’m mega organized & I love it so I thought I’d kind of walk you through our trip / itinerary & give ya all the links to things in case you want to use our trip for a reference!
We loaded up the car & left around 8ish on Monday morning!
Here was the comfy travel outfit I wore!
We drove straight to Turner Falls in Oklahoma. We had purchased tickets online which made it super easy once we got there. We’ve been here before (years & years ago) & it was just as cute as we remembered!
My sister’s sorority was doing different posts about where the girls were during their spring break so we took this one of Bethany for her to send in!
We had a picnic lunch (pre-made wraps & chips from Sam’s)!
The scenery was just beautiful! It was a fairly chilly day so there wasn’t hardly anyone in the water, but when we were there years ago, there were lots of people swimming & playing!
We stayed at THE CUTEST VRBO ever!!! The location was fabulous — we were able to walk everywhere! & it’s just absolutely darling! There were two bedrooms (two beds so I got one & my sisters shared the other), two bathrooms, kitchen, living room, parking area & an outdoor seating area as well.
We freshened up & went out to dinner at George’s.
We got a bunch of fried slides & totally pigged out!
We came back to the VRBO for a chill night in & played some board games! Since we were super little, my sisters & I have always enjoyed playing Clue. The VRBO had the cutest Clue game in the form of a book so that it looks more like a decor piece instead of a board game. Now that we’re older, we don’t get to play Clue as much (we listen to Crime Junkie Podcast instead lol) so walking into this was such a sentimental treat for us! Plus it’s cute!! We played a few rounds & I drank some wine & was reminded how thankful I am to be the oldest Rice sister!
We were so excited to get up on Tuesday morning to go to the silos at Magnolia! It was about a nine minute walk from our VRBO & you can bet we were there when the doors opened!
This cute mural was on our walk there!
We grabbed coffee from Magnolia Press to sip & carry while we wandered around!
We had a blast wandering around & talking about our favorite staged rooms!
We saw this wall posted on facebook a few months before our trip & we knew we wanted to find it & take a picture there — how darling!!!
The garden area was so cute & so of course we took more pics!
The tulips matched Avery’s dress!
Is there truly anything better than sister time + sweet tea?!
The Rice girls can’t resist a good grilled cheese! The Cheddar Box food truck was great!
Aves & I got giant sweet teas from the Alabama Sweet Tea Company food truck & it was soooo good! Best sweet tea ever!!
Sister bathroom selfie because even the bathrooms are darling!
We walked over to Spice Village & did some shopping there & at the boutiques in the area. We found these cute chairs & relaxed for a bit!
We took these pics with the cute wall while waiting in line for the Silos Baking Co.!
Avery & I got the chocolatier & Bethany got the strawberries ‘n’ cream cupcake! Some of the best cupcakes we’ve ever had! So worth the long wait in line.
More cute pics!
We went back to the VRBO to change into comfier clothes before heading out to dinner!
Hi Chip & Jo!
Hanging out on a bench waiting for our name to be called for dinner!
We had some fabulous Mexican food & even better service at Ninfa’s!
We walked right by the Dr Pepper Museum on our way back to the VRBO so of course we had to stop to take some cool pics!
Wednesday morning we got up bright & early to get coffee & go hiking!
All three of us officially decided that Common Grounds has THE BEST iced caramel latte we’ve ever tasted!
We spent a few morning hours at Cameron Park!
After our hike we went to Baylor University to check out the famous Baylor bears!
We went back to our VRBO to change out of our hiking clothes & then walked back to the silos for a delicious pizza lunch from Amo La Pizza food truck!
We got lucky & got some of the bean bags that sit on the lawn right in front of the silos. We ate lunch & then people watched for awhile, enjoying our full bellies & the sunshine!
We wandered over to Maggie’s Sweet Shoppe & I had the best lemon pie ice cream I’ve ever had!!!
& of course we had to sign the guest book!
We walked back to the Dr Pepper Museum & took a little tour. All three of us love Dr Pepper so it was actually cool to see its history!
It was a no brainer that we had to take more pictures with the Dr Pepper murals while we sipped on our free drinks & waited for our next thing!
How beautiful is this blue wall?!
We ended our time at the museum with a blind taste test called Taste-A-Soda. It was so fun & we were actually very bad at it lol!
We spent our last night at the VRBO watching New Girl & I drank a mango cart.
WE WERE SO SAD TO LEAVE!!!
We tried to cheer ourselves up by going back to Common Grounds & getting a coffee for the road.
Since there isn’t a whataburger near where we live, it was a no brainer that it had to be on our meal list!
& then it was back to reality with 40 degree + snowy weather…
At least my cat missed me & was willing to snuggle!
We had the absolute best time!! If any of y’all go to Waco & use any of our recommendations, I hope you love them as much as we did! :)
