Feel Good Friday

Happy Friday, everyone!

what we've been up to...

The weather was absolutely beautiful this week! 40s-50s has never felt so good! I had a little bit of free time after school in between my other activities, so I was able to go on a few walks with one of my friends & her son. It was so nice to get outside & breathe some fresh air + feel the sun on my back. Now I’m even more excited for spring! The picture below was my view when I would get back from my walks lol she’s like ummm take me with you?!

Tuesday night was senior night so we got to celebrate our winter athletes & club members. This is my first year coaching cheerleading & dance (I started in November) & while it has definitely had its challenges, I couldn’t be more thankful to have the group of girls that I had this year. My seniors have been great examples of leadership & they deserve to be celebrated. Definitely going to miss them next year!

On Thursday morning I got my first dose of the Covid vaccine! So far I’m feeling good with just a little bit of achiness in my shoulder.

outfits of the week…

For the past month or so, I’ve started trying to consistently share my OOTD (outfit of the day) just for fun! I’m typically able to link most pieces, but I also just share it to hopefully give a bit of inspiration & show you that you can recreate my outfits just by using pieces from your own closet.

Monday…

On Monday afternoon I helped do temperature checks at our middle school wrestling tournament, so of course I had to dress in a way that would support my wrestling students! It was the first time I’ve ever watched a wrestling match at all. I had to have a student explain the rules to me because I had no idea what was going on lol.

Absolutely on board with these banana hair clips that are coming back into style! This hairstyle is so fun & easy & feels a bit more “dressy” than just a regular ponytail which is part of what I love about them. Plus, they give so much volume which I also love! I got this set of four from Amazon & love the variety of color options. I wore the black one on Monday!

Tuesday…

Tuesday was our last home basketball games of the season & it was also senior night! Going to miss wearing this sweatshirt once a week. ;)

Wednesday…

I’ll be honest, I almost cried last night because I thought it was Thursday lol can ya tell this has been a long week for me so far?! Last week we only had in-person school for two days because of the weather, so I’m sure that’s part of why this week feels extra long. My schedule has been pretty much jam packed with me playing catch up. I decided to wear this t-shirt I got from Target earlier this year because I thought the colors were kind of spring-y. Plus, I wore one of my pink masks from kitsch (my fav brand of masks) which made the outfit even cuter!

Thursday…

I posted about this shacket yesterday & then I was like yeah I want to wear that again lol. The thing that I like about this jacket is you can really customize it to fit your style. I will often look on Pinterest at different stylings of things to try to switch up my wardrobe a bit. That’s one way that helps me to not get tired of wearing the same things. Since the weather is warming up (& hopefully is going to stay that way), I decided to wear it with my favorite layering tank. I’ve seen so many different bloggers / influencers share this tank as their fav & I’m right there with them. I have it in tons of colors because it’s just so soft & flowy & light. I’ve also worn this jacket with a white tee underneath & it looks cute that way, too! It would be great paired with leggings & a sneaker as well.

friday favs…

Driving on some old dirt roads (even with the snow) is one of my favorite things! Can ya guess where my blog’s name came from? ;) Small town girl for sure!

Also a big fan of the golden hour! Most of the time I think my brown eyes are pretty boring, but they do look pretty cool in the sun.

Yes, I’m 24 years old. No, I don’t know where these Band-Aids at my house came from lol.

I have naturally fairly tan skin, but when it loses its tan, my olive green undertones can really show through. To maintain an easy + subtle glow, I use Jergens Natural Glow moisturizer. I’ve been using this product since high school during my cheerleading days! It’s a go-to & has never let me down. It’s not streaky at all & you’re able to choose from a couple different shades so (if you’ve chosen the right one), you won’t be orange. I use the medium to tan moisturizer, but my sisters use the fair to medium shade & all three of us have loved our results. A few of the downfalls:

  • You have to be sure to wash your hands really well shortly after applying the lotion because it can & WILL turn your hands orange & it can be difficult to get off after it has already set in.

  • I wouldn’t necessarily say that the product smells bad, but I don’t think it smells wonderful either. I mean, it just smells like self-tan lotion & not like flowers or perfume.

  • I’ve tried this product on my face because I don’t want my body to be tan & my face to be white. When I did this, my face did break out a bit which is to be expected since it is a product made for your body & not for your face. They do offer a facial tinted moisturizer, but I haven’t ever tried it.

All in all, this product isn’t perfect & does have a few flaws, but overall, it gives me a very natural glowing tan & is incredibly easy to apply, so I’ll keep using it until I find a product that does the exact same thing, but smells like perfume lol.

I’ve pretty much always been obsessed with exfoliating my skin & wanting it to be as smooth as possible. & when I exfoliate, I want it to be so rough that I feel like I’ve lost at least one (maybe two) layers of skin by the time I’m done lol. I saw these exfoliating shower gloves when I was browsing on Amazon & fell into the trap & bought them. & holy stinkin’ cow am I glad I did!!! Y’all they are legit AMAZING! I got the “heavy” set, but they also have a lighter set that is less rough. You just get it wet, put some body wash on the glove, & wash yourself. They’re legit amazing!! My skin has seriously never been so soft! The first time I used them, I only did it on one of my legs & not the other just so I could see if I could tell a difference. Shaving was SO much easier & my lotion even went on better on the leg I had exfoliated! These are a super win for me!

Sharing some of my favorite & recent Target finds below!

This cute little pink tie-dye lounge set is actually what my Dad got my sisters & I for Valentine’s Day! My Dad usually gets us a little something — flowers, or some candy, or a nice card. But these are way better! This set comes together & I am wearing a small in both. The material is so stinkin’ soft & very light + thin so they are perfect for the spring & summer months. The shorts have little nonfunctional buttons on the front which makes the shorts look kind of like girl boxers which I think is cute!

For those of you who don’t know, my family owns & runs a little sno cone shack in our hometown in the summertime. It’s honestly such a perfect little job for me in the summer months when I’m on school break! I’m always looking for comfy shorts that come in fun or bright colors. I saw these on Target’s website & was really excited to try them. I absolutely love them! I got a size small because they looked big online. I usually wear a medium, but the small is perfect for me. They are pretty long, so I roll them twice, & the leg holes are very big. The shorts were way too big for my sisters & Mom, but I love how they fit. I don’t like for my shorts to be tight or to ride up so these are great. They’re pretty soft as well & they have pockets which is helpful! I got them in this light pink color & a magenta color as well (showing a picture of those below). They come in some other colors including black & grey!

These are the same shorts that I shared above (obviously) but I wanted to share what they look like with this cute tie-dye long-sleeved shirt from Amazon. This top is definitely oversized & is perfect for people who love to exercise — it’s thin & breezy & definitely would dry quickly if it got wet from sweat. I’m wearing a small & honestly would’ve sized down if I could’ve.

pic 4.jpg

This “workout” set totally reminds me of what gymshark clothes look like! That kind of mesh material that is really comfy while also being compression-y. I got this lilac purple set & think it’s so cute! The leggings are like kind of ombre which is really cool. The leggings & sportsbra are said to be seamless, which I would mostly agree with. I’m wearing a medium in the bra & it has great support & coverage — I love the high neckline! The leggings are currently on sale for $22.50!!

pic 5.jpg

This little set doesn’t come together, but it was recommended on the website so I thought I’d try it! I love the leggings! They’re black & kind of acid wash, but they’re super subtle so they just look almost like faded. They’re high rise which I love & they’re very very soft & comfy. If I’m being honest, I don’t love this tunic sweatshirt. It’s super long (which I know makes sense because it’s a tunic, but it’s SO long on me). It has cute slits on the side which I like. I ended up keeping the leggings, but sending the tunic sweatshirt back.
