Feel Good Friday

Happy Friday!!!

what I've been up to...

On Saturday afternoon last week, my sister & I went to the movie theater & saw Dear Evan Hansen.

“Evan Hansen is an anxious, isolated high-school student who’s aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social media age. He soon embarks on a journey of self-discovery when a letter he wrote for a writing exercise falls into the hands of a grieving couple whose sun took his own life.”

I’m sharing the trailer below.

We both bawled & tried to console ourselves with popcorn & chocolate. As a school counselor, I know that I am biased in believing the message of this movie should be heard by a lot of people. Suicide & social struggles are topics that are held very close to my heart. Even though I don’t personally know every single one of you reading this, I will promise you that I’ll never shy away if you need someone to talk to. My email is simplysmalltownblog@gmail.com.

On Sunday, we met up with my college sister & one of her friends to celebrate her birthday! We ate lunch at one of our favorite spots in Wichita - Bricktown Brewery. The blueberry beer & fish & chips are my go-to!

outfits of the week…

For the past few months or so I’ve started *trying* to consistently share my OOTD (outfit of the day) just for fun! I’m typically able to link most pieces, but I also just share it to hopefully give a bit of inspiration & show you that you can recreate my outfits by just using pieces from your own closet.

Friday…

Friday was homecoming & man was I tired after such a full week. A banana hair clip + a whole lot of dry shampoo for the win!

Saturday…

My hair pic was taken right before the parade so I’m wearing a different crewneck than the other pic, but I love a comfy fall Saturday!!!

Sunday…

Cute little Amazon tee for Sunday’s OOTD for church!

Monday...

Tuesday...

Tuesday I was not feeling good at all so I decided to stay home & take a day off from school to rest.

Wednesday...

Y’all have loved this Amazon color block sweater just as much as I have been! It was the perfect top for a rainy Wednesday.

Thursday...

Thursday’s OOTD for middle school game day! Featuring my roomba that helps keep me sane during a busy week!

in case you missed it...

Since last week was my school’s homecoming week, I thought it might be fun to put together a post of some of the traditions! You can click here to view that post.

On Wednesday I shared one of my family’s favorite recipes — Grilled Crack Chicken Burgers!

As you may have seen, I started a new weekly post where I share my Weekly Sale Finds! I’ve been sharing them daily on my Instagram stories & I figured I could compile all of them from the week into one post so that y’all can see them, too! You can click here to read that post.

friday favs...

Target has the cutest little lamps!! I love the coloring & their small size! In-store price was $10, but online they’re listed as $15.

The backpack I use for school is currently on sale for $32.29! I absolutely LOVE it! It fits my planner, notebooks, etc + my laptop & ipad & it is super cute!

Y’all loved those knitted pumpkins I shared the other week & I found some more!! These little pumpkins are seriously the cutest addition to my house for fall. I love that they add a pop of color & texture & are different sizes. I’ll be able to pull these cute little pumpkins out for years — they’ll never go out of style! The best part is I got a code (SST15) for y’all for 15% off anything from her Etsy shop!

I gotta be honest, this oversized sweater from Amazon was WAY too oversized on me. I couldn’t even make it work with leggings which is such a bummer because it has the potential to be super cute! The detailing & stitching are super cute & unique, unfortunately, this one was a flop for me.

Y’all know how much I love me a good comfy + cozy cardigan!!! This boyfriend one from Target is too cozy! It fits a little bit oversized & bulky, but that makes it all the more comfy. I love this striped print, but it does come in some other options as well. I’m wearing a small here!

I shared this Walmart chenille sweater last week paired with a maxi skirt, but wanted to share it with jeans too because it’s just that good! I’m wearing a small & it fits very much true to size. It’s truly the softest material ever & is actually kind of light, so it won’t be too hot at school. I personally love this cream color, but it does come in some other color options as well!

Here is how I paired it with a skirt (also from Walmart)! Both pieces are $14!

Y’all have been loving fall outfits just as much as I have! I’m sharing another Etsy shop & I’m stinkin’ in love with this assorted pumpkin tee! The colors are so vibrant on this deep green tee & I’m obsessed. Dyanna is offering y’all a 15% off discount code now through 11/24! My code is LOVEIT

This small town girl tee honestly feels like it was made for me & my blog — so stinkin’ in love with it!!! Who knew leopard & windmills go so well together?! Super pumped to be teaming up with Katlyn from SoutherntrendcoStore this week! She’s offering y’all 10% off anything from her shop when you spend $15 or more (code ends on 10/28)! My code is ALLI21

I’m a firm believer that you can’t go wrong with neutral timeless pieces. This ribbed v-neck from Target is a perfect example! There are two main things I like about this top: one) it’s INCREDIBLY SOFT!!! & two) the neckline doesn’t go too deep which means I actually feel comfortable wearing it to school! The side vent is pretty dang cute, too. This top could totally be worn with leggings or a vest as well. It comes in a bunch of other color options that are all calling my name!

“If speaking kindly to plants helps them grow, imagine what speaking kindly to humans can do.”

As a school counselor, promoting kindness is something I really try to embody in my professional life as well as my personal life. What a beautiful world we could live in if everyone chose kindness a little more often! I absolutely love this t-shirt & the message it conveys. Michael from NarwoodClothier offers 50% off from his Etsy shop almost daily!! Supporting small businesses that share & reflect my same values is just about as sweet as it can get!
