Summer 2024 Cruise

I love the kind of tired that comes from a lot of fresh air + a little too much sun. A week-long cruise with my family was the perfect start to summer!

pre-trip...

Nails for the cruise: check! Now who’s gonna come pack for me? lol

Who is going to let Piper know she can’t come with me?

Dropping her off to be boarded! Piper stayed at the location we do her training at (more information on her stay at the end of the post)!

These are the motion sickness bands I wore in addition to the motion sickness ear patches I got from my dr!

recap...

We went through SO many different outfits because of all of the different activities & events we went to. Most days we had an excursion outfit & a dinner outfit, but somedays there were multiple. I’m going to share them all below under each day!

Friday - travel day
This is the day we left for our cruise! We drove to Kansas City & flew down to Florida with a layover in North Carolina.

All loaded up & ready to go!

Thanks to my boot, I was able to preboard the flights which was SO helpful & made things a lot less stressful!

Saturday - boarding the ship!!!

The cutest + yummiest little surprise waiting in our rooms from our travel agent!

Give us alllll the frozen drinks!

Pina colada quickly became my fav!
(funny story: my sister asked what was on the rim of the cup & my mom said, "I'm not sure. It has the texture of paper, so I spit it out!"
Y’all, it was coconut lol!

First dinner on the ship!

Our view at dinner.

Sunday - full day at sea

Salted caramel swirl iced lattes to start the day off right!

We went to the fruit & vegetable carving show & it was too cute!

Changed into our swimsuits to hang out at the pool!

Dinner outfit!

Lump crab cake for my starter.

Gnocchi with truffled cream for my main.

Chocolate hazelnut bar with citrus cream for dessert.

Monday - Cozumel
First day of excursions!

Breakfast!

With a view!

Our view once we got off the ferry in Cozumel.

The first part of our excursion was exploring some Mayan ruins. It was A LOT of walking & insanely hot. I did my best to keep up, but this darn boot sure made things uncomfortable.

View walking into the ruins.

My siblings took a short hike to another area & were greated with this beautiful view!

The colorful flowers everywhere were my fav!

& there were SO MANY iguanas!!! This one is right next to my sister’s foot!

Next, we went to a Mayan village & ate an authentic meal with them in their hut. It was delicious!!! Those tortillas were absolutely delicious! They wrapped the chicken in banana leaves & cooked it under ground!

After lunch, we got to cool off in a cenote.

I can’t even begin to tell you how good this felt!!!

Plus, it was a gorgeous area.

We took a ferry back to the ship & got ready for dinner. The sunset was beautiful!

Dinner outfits!

Sisters!

Starter was potstickers.

Main was fish & chips.

Dessert was homemade apple pie.

Tuesday - Belize

View at breakfast.

We split up a bit for our excursions. The previous day was just waaay too much walking for me & my foot was super painful & swollen.

My mom & I went on a wildlife jungle boat ride!

Belize is so colorful & I loved it!

& they had the cutest little swing sets!

We had a little bit of extra time after our ferry ride, so of course we had to get pina coladas!

They served us rum punch as we roamed around looking for wildlife!

Afterwards, we grabbed lunch. These crispy fish tacos were the best I’ve ever had in my life!

& the ceviche was great, too!

Dinner outfits!

Starter was Vol-Au-Vent, le Grand Chef.

Main was a rack of lamb.

Dessert was chocolate tarte.

Ended the evening by watching The Boys in the Boat on the top deck!

The week is going by so fast!!!

Wednesday - Honduras

Woke up with insanely swollen + sunburnt lips!

View during breakfast.

Cool little shipwreck we could see, too.

So cute + colorful!

LOVE the flowers!

All week, everyone kept asking if we were sisters & you wouldn’t believe the happy dances my mom was doing lol!

We split up again for our excursions, & my mom & I went on a brewery tour in the middle of the jungle!

We got to leave Kansas on the board!

They told us there are no rules in Honduras, & the rules they do have, they break lol so they made sure we all left with roadies.

I got to sit in the passenger seat because I can’t get around real well to squish in with my boot. I became BFFs with our driver (who didn’t speak English) thanks to my high school + college spanish classes!

Met up with my dad & sister afterwards to find some lunch.

We rode over to the beach in a chairlift & the view was beautiful!

Yummy chips & salsa!

& a baleada!

Support day drinking!!!

Thursday - Costa Maya

View at breakfast.

My dad was so proud of his shirt!

We went to a traditional Mayan cleansing ceremony. We were all a tad hesitant about it, but experiencing the culture was so cool!

Afterwards, we hung out at a pool that’s connected to the ocean!

More fish tacos!

Such a gorgeous area!

Dinner outfits!

Starter was crab & shrimp seafood bisque.

My sister’s starter was escargots bourguinon & it was actually delish!

Main was land & sea (steak & lobster).

Dessert was crepes suzette.

My sister got chantilly swan & it was too cute!

Friday - full day at sea

View at breakfast.

Bloody mary!

Drinking buddies!

Watched the Barbie movie on the top deck.

While drinking a mimosa, of course!

Spent the afternoon in the pool reading.

& drinking.

Lunch in the shade!

Last dinner outfits!

Seafood medley for my starter.

My sister got tropical fruit soup for her starter & we were laughing so hard at her boujee apple sauce lol!

Crab saffron risotto for my main.

Deep dish apple pie for dessert.

The most beautiful sunset for our last night!

Saturday - travel day

Flying home!

Hmm do you think my sisters are tired?

post-trip...

The first shower back at my house felt SO GOOD! These are all of the products I use.

Piper had the absolute best time during her little summer vacation, too! She got daily walks & special treats, & even got tucked in every night with a 10 minute belly rub! The company partners with a surveillance video company so I was able to watch her on the doggie cam whenever I wanted! I’ll be honest, I took advantage of that way more than I should ever admit lol. On top of that, every afternoon I got a little report card listing the days activities + a picture. She got a nice oatmeal shampoo bath right before she was picked up & she was so soft + smelled so good. As a first time dog mom, I’m so happy I chose for her to stay here & will absolutely do it again when traveling in the future!
