Feel Good Friday

Happy Friday, sweet people!

what I've been up to...

I was doing some work at my kitchen table & got up to grab a sticky note & when I came back, my seat had been stolen!

One of the electives at the middle school I work at is a foods & nutrition class. For their quarterly final, the students cooked a full meal + served our staff! They thought through every detail, all the way down to table cloths, homemade origami swans, & the sweetest greeters & servers! It was absolutely delicious & it was precious to see them so proud of themselves!! & I was extra excited because I didn’t have to pack my lunch for that day. ;)

Thankful this is my Friday night view every week!

I got to sleep in on Saturday & it was much-needed!!

In the afternoon I met up with my parents & grandma to do a little bit of shopping! We first went to Trader Joe’s (keep scrolling to get the link to my mini haul post)!

We then got ourselves a little treat at Dunkin’.

We tried the apple cider donuts as well as their pumpkin ones. Both were absolutely delicious, but we all love the pumpkin ones the most! Do you have a fav?

I ended the evening snuggled up on the couch watching K-State play Iowa State. K-State lost unfortunately, but I will always love to watch them, no matter the outcome!

Late morning on Sunday, we met some family from my mom’s side at our local pumpkin patch!

It was super busy, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves!

The weather & views were absolutely beautiful!

We had such a great time!

In the afternoon we went back to my parent’s house to watch the Chiefs game on their projector. Their sweet kitten took a LONG nap on my lap which was a purrrfect way to watch the game! ;)

What a perfect ending to a great weekend!

Every year right after the first quarter ends, my district treats all of us to a piece of pie & calls it “quarter of the way Pie Day”! I had peanut butter & it was delicious!!

outfits of the week…

For the past few months or so I’ve started *trying* to consistently share my OOTD (outfit of the day) just for fun! I’m typically able to link most pieces, but I also just share it to hopefully give a bit of inspiration & show you that you can recreate my outfits by just using pieces from your own closet.

Friday…

Friday was the last day of spirit week & the theme was favorite team / jersey day, so of course I had to break out a jersey from my alma mater!

Saturday…

Fall Saturdays are my absolute favorite!!

Sunday…

Of course I have to represent the Chiefs for their game day!

Monday...

Monday was a work day for my district so I decided to dress comfy & rep the Chiefs since they won on Sunday!

Tuesday...

Teacher / counselor t-shirt Tuesday! This pumpkin tee was one of y’all’s favorites from the past couple of weeks so I figured I ought to bring it out again & pair it with y’all’s favorite cardigan, too!

Wednesday...

Wednesday’s outfit of the day!

Thursday...

I got this cardigan in from Walmart on Wednesday night & seriously did not take it off lol I love it so much I decided to wear it to school on Thursday! It’s legit like barefoot dreams material & is less than $20!

in case you missed it...

On Tuesday I shared my family’s Amazon prime finds from the month of September. We all share an Amazon account so you just never know what will be ordered! You can read that post by clicking here.

I was asked to share a mini haul of all the things I got at Trader Joe’s! Rather than make this post super long, I decided to create a post just for that. Click here to read!

As you may have seen, I started a new weekly post where I share my Weekly Sale Finds! I’ve been sharing them daily on my Instagram stories & I figured I could compile all of them from the week into one post so that y’all can see them, too! You can click here to read that post.

friday favs...

Verb Energy Bars give me the kick I need every morning! I stinkin’ love these things & they’re delicious. You can use my code (ALLISONRICE) to get $10 off a starter kit! You can click here to be taken to their website where my code will be directly applied.

Before we move onto clothing items, I wanted to share a sweet little candle company that I found through Instagram. Their name is ACo Candle Co. I absolutely love candles & having my house smell nice, & it makes it even better when I get to support a small business that has a great cause. They offer 100% hand poured soy wax melts + candles. This candle company’s mission is to raise awareness & money for people who are battling cancer. Every month they pick a new person & a portion of that month’s sales goes directly to that person to help ease their burden, even if just a little. This seriously warms my heart so much & I felt like it was absolutely worth sharing with y’all!!

“Grow through what you go through” is one of my favorite quotes as a school counselor. I love the visuals I get of people learning to adjust to the challenges of the world, & growing from the adversity. Finding pieces that match my style but also reflect my values is my favorite thing ever, & this sweatshirt does just that. LeMimiStore has other great positive pieces on her Etsy shop, but this one is by far my fav. You can use my code (SIMPLYSMALLTOWN2021) to get 15% off of her site (code is good through 11/10).

I’ll be honest… I 100% jumped on the knotted headband trend. At first I really didn’t like how they looked on me & my hair. I like a lot of volume in my hair & I felt like these headbands made it look really flat, but I don’t feel that way anymore now that I’ve been able to play around with them more! I found these two waffle knit knotted headbands from Target & quickly fell in love! They come in other colors as well, but I knew I’d get the most use out of the olive green & white ones.

I’ve been on the hunt for some dresses since I have a wedding to go to this weekend & I kind of went down a rabbit hole & got a skirt too (it’ll be below). I found this one that has all of my favorite things — leopard, frill & tiered levels! It doesn’t get much better than that. I’m wearing a small & it’s definitely oversized, it’s pretty wide & a little bit long. It’s great quality though & looks cute with a denim jacket as well!

I found this skirt while I was on my dress hunt & wowee it’s cute!! Gives me all kinds of boho fall vibes! I paired it with some booties, a black t-shirt (tucked in), & the green knotted headband (that I shared above) to pull the green from the skirt! I’m wearing a small & it fits true to size.

This last dress is so perfect for fall & winter weddings! I’m wearing a small & it fits true to size. The chest area is a little bit tight for me — I would say I have a larger chest than what would work for this small dress. I love the print & the square neckline.

I’ve been trying to decide whether or not to share about this, but it’s real life & so I’m going to… last week was HARD. Our high school football coach’s wife passed away last Friday night from covid. She was only 31 years old & leaves behind a husband & a 2 year old son. As you can imagine, our community is devastated. Please hug your family a little tighter & keep our community in your prayers.
