Feel Good Friday
Hey y'all! Wow we've really missed you all! Getting to chat & share with people from all over was such a blessing that we didn't even realize. We hope you've all been doing well & staying safe + healthy. We wanted to keep y'all caught up with how we're doing & we want to hear how you are too! In case you didn't see, we decided to take a break from the blog due to COVID-19 & the impact it's having on our family. To read that post, click here.
Life has been pretty different at the Rice house. Here in Kansas, all of our school buildings have been closed including colleges. Because of this, my sisters have gotten a little bit of an extended spring break & will be starting their 'home schooling' on Monday so that'll be interesting lol. All of their teachers & school staff have been so great during this transition! Sending emails of expectations & communicating with students so that everyone knows what to expect (even though I'm sure a lot of the teachers probably don't quite know what to expect themselves).
Both of my parents have been working from home, which isn't new for my mom since she's worked from home for about 3 years. However, having four family members at home while she works has been a new transition in & of itself!
I've been keeping up with my four grad classes & enjoying a little bit of extra free time.
We're all still missing my brother, Ethan, who is still in Manhattan until further notice.
Some of the blessings from our quarantine so far are:
Getting to eat dinner together every night. My family has always done really well with eating as many meals together as possible, but recently I've noticed what a gift this is.
Watching a movie / TV show / playing cards or boardgames / working on a puzzle after dinner. Each night after dinner, we take a vote on what activity we should do! We've played: skip-bo, dominoes, life, war, & hearts (linking how to play hearts here!). We've done a few puzzles & if we're not doing those things, then you can find us in the basement watching Last Chance U or The Voice on the big screen.
Family walks / family drives. Getting out of the house has been crucial for our sanity. If the weather is nice, we go for as long of a walk as our little legs will allow (we're all shorties) & if the weather isn't so nice, we all pile in the Mazda & go for a drive (our favorite drives consist of going to see Grandma or a friend's baby cows).
Kindness from others. We are blessed beyond measure. We can't even believe how many people have reached out to offer to bring us groceries, run errands, etc. It's so odd to hear the doorbell ring & then see my dad take the clorox wipes out to disinfect whatever has been delivered before bringing it in. Sometimes it's things that we need & sometimes it's been just little gifts from others.
Driveway gatherings. My teenage sisters have had several friends stop by to sit & chat with them (from a great distance of course)!
Trying two-person yoga moves. These cracked us up! You know when you can't see what you look like, but you feel like you look good? Yeah, that's how Avery & I felt. The pictures are much different than the images in our heads lol.
Reading. We've been doing LOTS of reading here in the Rice house. Stay tuned for a book review coming next week!
I hope when we look back on this time, these are the things we remember!
friday favs...
We wanted to share a few favorites of some comfy things we've bought recently from taking advantage of the online sales. When our orders arrived, we left them in the garage for a couple weeks before trying them on. This might sound crazy, but we're taking every precaution to keep Bethany safe & COVID-19 out!
Old Navy...
Unfortunately, a lot of the things we bought during the sale have been picked over & are sold out, so I'll share what I can! They're still doing 50% everything online + free shipping on orders $25+!
Who doesn't love a good distressed medium wash boyfriend jean?!
I'm a big fan of active wear & I also love the open hip notches so of course I love this lightweight long sleeve shirt! It comes in three other colors!
I love simple + basic graphic tees & I love them even more when they're less than $15!
If these darling sports bras don't make you want to go work out, you're lying. However, I won't judge you if you just want one because they're cute because same girl.
Aerie...
This babydoll tank is darling & so cute for spring & summer! Plus it's only $12.47 & comes in four other colors!!!
Another cute buy is this open back tank! It's also only $12.47 & comes in black & this cute wine color. I've never had an open back shirt like this before so I'm excited to see how much I like it!
I got this cute purple "make a difference" t-shirt & sized down. I thought it was cute & fun + K-State alumni love us some purple...it's in our blood. Also $12.47!
