Feel Good Friday

Happy Friday! As I write this, the sun is shining, my windows are open & I can hear the birds chirping! Our governor has announced a slow opening to the state of Kansas & we are feeling HOPEFUL!

what we've been up to...

Last week, our parents could sense that us girls were struggling with some cabin fever, so they surprised us & took us on a day trip to Santa Fe Lake & Campground in Wichita! We spent the afternoon hiking around & exploring the waterfalls & lake areas, admiring the beautiful nature around us & being thankful that even though we're quarantined, we can still go on fun little adventures! The fresh air & change of scenery was exactly what we all needed.

We all loved these bright purple trees that added such a pretty pop of color to the otherwise lush green scenery!

Then on Saturday, we grabbed pizza through the drive thru & headed to Kanopolis for the day. It was a great surprise to have our brother, Ethan, & his friend, Jonah, meet up with us. Even though it was HARD to stay 6 feet apart,we did our best! We had a great time hiking & walking in the water. I hope all these pics prove to you that Kansas is definitely not a flyover state! Both of these locations are less than an hour from my hometown.

The girls & I have been chugging along on our homework & my parents are still working from home. Some days are more difficult than others ... motivation / ability to focus, etc. Sometimes things that are out of our control get in our way too. Like Sophie. ;)

Also, I bought a car!!! Kind of a fun story because I bought the car from an old high school friend & his wife. It's nice to be able to know where you're getting a vehicle from!

So if you see my family piled in my new RAV4, don't judge us. I love my new car & we may be going stir crazy because of quarantine!

One of Avery's friends just got four baby ducks & brought them over to show our family. Confession time: I'm a tad bit afraid of birds. But after seeing these little ones, I may have to cross ducks off my list!

Bethany & Avery were scheming together on how to convince our parents to get some baby ducks of our own. They've not been successful ... yet. ;) I'm still hopeful!

While sometimes I get frustrated by the rainy days because they keep me inside, the after is so worth it...

Crisp air.

Everything's green.

Rumbling clouds.

Beautiful rainbows.

outside project(s) update!

This is the back of our backyard & we really struggle with standing water which kills our grass in this area. My Dad created these beautiful curves, we brought in some dirt & rock (that matches the rest of our house, yes we all have a bit of OCD) & it looks great!

We recently got some more concrete poured to extend our concrete slab for our patio area. It used to be brick pavers, but we just wanted something a little bit more efficient & that would hold up longer. The side of the house used to have rocks, but they were different than the rest around our house so we are replacing them & adding into our landscaping. In the corner just off of the concrete slab we'll have a new fire pit! It's already really starting to come together so I'm really excited to see the final product!

My Dad built & painted the picnic table & bench last summer for our snocone shack, but we store them at our house on the off months.

friday favs...

The girls & I actually decided to get dressed & ready for the day for once so we took a bunch of pictures of some of our favorite clothing items we've gotten recently! So as to not overload you, today I'll be sharing Bethany & Avery's favorites & next week I'll share mine.

I'll do my best to share exact links -- some things are sold out in the color the girls have, but they have other colors available & they're cute too!

The girls have been loving their soft & cozy Fort Hays State University sweatshirts! Do I see a college decision announcement coming from Bethany soon? *wink wink* The best part about where the girls got these sweatshirts from is that she offers TONS of other options for other colleges, towns, etc. & she even does custom work. We love supporting small businesses!

Continuing with the comfy trend, Bethany is all about her comfies. The back of this crewneck has a few slits & then a big tie at the waistline. It's really darling & doesn't show off too much.

Aves looks effortlessly cute & classy in this easy outfit! I love the choral color for summer.

Bethany's style is pretty cute & casual & she prefers for her clothes to be comfy -- no judgment from me, girlfriend! The pop of color from the flowers poking out of the front pocket is too cute.

Any Friends fans out there?! This graphic tee is a colorful design of central park -- love it!

Adding a plain white tee under a dress completely changes the look. Perfectly cute & casual for B!

Let's be real though... this is more like what we wear on a regular basis these days!

Super cute for a summer church service! Here's to hoping that we'll be able to physically go to a church service soon again!

Another cute, comfy, casual outfit for B!

I don't think there's a better t-shirt for Bethany. My family always jokes that Bethany has an old soul in her young body. So a cute little typewriter saying "sending love" is perfect for her!

One great blessing from Covid-19 has been the intentionality. From unexpected treats to the creativity in celebrating birthdays to simply checking in. In this town & all across Kansas, we have loved our neighbors well. I hope that’s something we hold on to moving forward. (Last night we heard our doorbell ring & came outside to this! How cute is that?!) Stay safe & be well my friends!
