Feel Good Friday

I cannot believe it's almost June! Time is such a weird thing lately. It feels like it's going slow & fast at the same time, which doesn't make any sense at all, but maybe you're feeling the same way?!

what we've been up to...

Last week, on Saturday morning, a few of us took one final trip up to Manhattan to finish moving all of my things home. Manhattan has been my home for the last five years (four years of college + 1 year working at a middle school) which feels like a stinkin' long time! This past year, I lived in an apartment by myself while I worked at a middle school & continued my education to get my masters degree. So much growth happened each year that I lived in Manhattan, & each was more transformative than the previous. I was incredibly anxious about living on my own, but I ended up absolutely loving it! We couldn't have had a better sendoff than eating Taco Lucha in City Park at a picnic table. I'll miss Manhattan (& my boujee apartment with the spectacular view) everyday & I truly believe this place will always have a piece of my heart. *sniff sniff* #sentiAlli

Kitten update! Y'all know I can't handle myself. ;) We went out to see the kittens on Sunday evening & it was super gloomy & rainy. The kittens were playing like crazy when we got there & they swarmed us when we walked up! There are six of them so it really feels like they're coming from everywhere! The more we played with them, the longer their blinks were & the more yawns we started to notice. Before long, almost all of us had a sleeping kitten in our arms! Such sweet moments with such sweet little kitties!

One of my favorite things about spring / summertime is how green everything gets! I know I've said this before, but seriously. Everything just looks so much more alive & it makes me feel happy from the inside out. I love a good dirt road / highway cruise. Linking my favorite rubber birkenstocks that I've gotten so much use out of lately here!

Our cousin Cameron (from our Mom's side) worked at Chill (our family sno cone shack) with us last summer, & we were SO excited for her to be out of school so she could come work with us again & she came this week! One of the greatest gifts our parents gave us is cousins similar in age to do life with. That's priceless!

Update on our baby robins in the backyard... they've officially left the nest!

friday favs...

Lately, I've started dry brushing because I was noticing that my skin (on my arms, specifically) was pretty dry & looked like there was dead skin (gross, I know). For the last two weeks, I've started dry brushing my arms & legs before every shower & I can tell a huge difference!

Any pop drinkers out there? My Mom should probably change her middle name to Diet Coke considering how much she loves them lol. She recently got this Yeti coozie & thinks she's hot s*** because of how awesome it is & how awesome she thinks she looks. ;) It really does keep her can of pop cold for hours & is super sturdy unlike some soft fabric coozies. They come in 13 other colors & are less than $20!

Sharing these Sam Edelman shoes again because we can't get enough of them! My Mom recently got them & she can't get over how comfortable they are! They have a platform base, but it's not too tall so it doesn't look like you're walking around in heels unless you want it to. So easily dressed up or down! Last weekend, they had a HUGE sale for Memorial Day Weekend & they're pretty much sold out in every color. But lucky for you, I found them on Amazon!

Everyone needs a good basic t-shirt dress for the summertime, right? Big fan of this black + white striped one here! It's a thin material so you won't be hot, but not too thin that it's see through. I love the scooped hem on the side -- it just adds a little flare that's fun & flirty!

favorite denim shorts lately...

Denim shorts are always a touchy subject for me because I've tried on so many different pairs throughout my adolescent & adult years & have really struggled with finding some that I truly love. I'm very short, but I have bigger thighs & then a fairly slim waistline. My curvy stature has made this process really difficult! As I’ve gotten older, I prefer that my shorts give me full coverage (no under booty views) & that they’re not tight around my thighs (I can’t stand the feeling of them riding up). So far, I've found four pairs that are absolutely wonderful in their own different ways & I'll be sharing them below!

These black denim shorts may be my favorite pair of denim shorts that I've ever owned! I love the button fly & that the sides have a little part clipped out. It just gives me some extra room to be comfortable & not even feel like I'm wearing denim shorts! After I got these I wanted them in actual denim colors, but I didn't love the color options, so I was on the hunt again for some more denim colored ones. I wear the heck out of these & am so glad I have them this summer!

I've shared these light wash soft denim shorts before & I'm here to share them again because they're that good! They're incredibly soft & pretty stretchy which is everything I was looking for. The belt can come out, but I thought it was super cute tied in a bow like I saw it online. Love how effortless & comfy these are!

Is anyone surprised that three out of the four outfits I'm posting today includes stripes? Didn't think so lol. I've had this shirt for about a year & have gotten SO much use out of it -- in the summer with a pair of denim shorts // in the fall with jeans, booties & a cardigan // to work with colored pixie pants & a denim jacket // you name it, this top can work with it!

Yet another great pair of denim shorts right here! I typically go for dark wash in my jeans, but love to mix it up & get light wash in my shorts. Anyone else? These have a little bit more material in the back so they're longer than in the front which I actually really like. They almost have a "mom jean" feel / look to them. So comfortable & easy to throw on when running out the door!
