Feel Good Friday
Can you believe that tomorrow is August?! What!! Why do I feel like time is flying by & standing still at the exact same time? I had a rough start to the week. I was feeling so overwhelmed by all the uknown that I was just kind of frozen (& grumpy). After a few days of being in a rut, I started to focus on what I can control & get those things done. It helped tremendously! While there is still a lot of unknown as far as what school is going to be like etc., my attitude is better & that is making all the difference!
what we've been up to...
My brother has been coming home pretty frequently to help build our new sunroom. A couple family friends of ours are building it & have done a bunch of work for us in the past that we've loved. My brother is helping them out & is learning the ins & outs of building things & working with your hands. My brother is a quirky dude & (don't ask me why) owns a baby tortoise named Francis. Francis came home with Ethan & my cat Sophie has spent all of her days either watching the boys outside building or observing Francis lol. We've been pretty entertained by everything as well!
BTW, the turtle in the bottom left of the picture is a toy of Ethan's from when he was younger. It is now Francis's friend. Again ... don't ask me why.
We enjoyed a delicious summer meal from a local sandwich shop + pub this week! Caesar salad & a side pasta salad for me hit the spot! My Mom & I split these cute little cocktails to-go as well. How darling are they in their little mason jars?! We had a watermelon margarita & a buschbom. They were delicious (& strong)!! Everything was so stinkin' yummy!
In case you're a local, all of this was from Noffy's Pub in McPherson! We called in our order & it was ready by the time we got there.
I'm still moving things in & decorating my school office. I've got LOTS of greenery & cute woven baskets that will go in my coffee bar area! L O V E !
On one of my trips to set up my office, my sisters tagged along & we made a fun morning out of it! We decided to try out a local coffee shop that was absolutely darling AND delicious! The coffee shop is located in a beautiful older home that has so much character & charm. The kitchen was so pretty & the rooms were darling. It was the perfect way to spend our morning, & I can see it quickly becoming one of our favorite things to do when the girls come to visit me!

friday favs...
I have been absolutely loving the comfy linen pants trend lately & am taking full advantage of it when planning ahead for outfits I'll wear to school! I recently grabbed this rust orange pair from Target & they are fantastic! They're incredibly light + thin, but not see through. They are very high rise (which I love) & the waist has a functional draw string. I'm 4'11" & they fall at a great length just above my ankle so for all my other shortys out there, these are the pants for you! They are true to size & come in a few other color options as well.

Speaking of linen bottoms ... I found this pair of linen paper bag shorts from Amazon & was pleasantly surprised! They are very light + thin, & I could see my black tank underneath just a tad. I tried it on with a white tank instead & couldn't see that one at all. They come in three other color options, including a super cute sky blue color & black! The waist line of these shorts is actually incredibly flattering because they're high rise & they suck you in in just the right place, & they are true to size. Big fan of these as we wrap up summer time!

Ahh you can tell by the content smile on my face how happy & relaxed I feel in this outfit! Typically my top priority when trying on clothes to buy or picking out an outfit is comfort -- I want to feel relaxed & comfortable in my clothing. This little outfit checks off my comfort box & many others! I'm a big tank top lover & I honestly find that I can wear them year round. Add a cute cardigan, a utility jacket or denim jacket & you're good to go! This black & white striped tank is different from all of my other neutral striped tanks (which I have many of) because of the material & it's fit. It's more of a muscle tank than a racerback which I actually really like! The material is thick, but breathable & is super good quality. It's true to size, but does hang a bit longer which I like in case I ever want to wear it with leggings. & of course, I've shared these light wash soft denim shorts many times, but that's how much I love them -- they're the pair that I always reach for!

A comfy tank + shorts is my go-to outfit in the summer when I'm running around doing who knows what! You never know when you're going to be outside & get sweaty. I don't even feel like I need to say much about this grey burnout tank because just looking at it, it speaks for itself. It is SO cute! Mine came in the mail knotted in the front, but it you definitely don't have to leave it. I just thought it was cute like that & have left mine! The best part of this tank? It's literally $12 & comes in two other colors! I'm wearing my normal size & I would say it's just a tad oversized -- leaving me enough room to knot it in the front, or unknot it & have it cover my booty with leggings. A staple summer piece from here on out!

Tank, shorts & shoes are all from Target! These grey shorts are absolutely wonderful for summertime! They're a very stretchy lightweight material that is quick dry & moisture wicking. There's nothing more I could want from a pair of comfy athletic shorts! This basic black athletic tank is super awesome too. I'm always looking for basic tanks that will go with lots of different outfits. One of the things I like so much about this tank is that it has a high neck line. That's hard to find with a lot of athletic tanks! It's currently $12 & comes in eleven other colors. Both the tank & shorts are true to size!

Such a cute & cozy little lounge set! I love this set because it’s very thin which makes it feel light & airy — perfect for the summer when you get a little bit chilly in your air conditioned house. I have this set in oatmeal & navy stripe as well, & both of my sisters + my Mom have it in the rust & cream stripe which is just as cute. That's how much we love this lounge set! It unfortunately doesn’t come together, so you have to buy each piece separately. That’s actually kind of fun though because it shows you how easy it is to mix & match these pieces with other things you might have in your closet. Looking forward to wearing this for the rest of the summer & definitely into the fall too!

I've posted about this top before, but they're just so good that when I heard they were restocked I knew I had to share about them again!
I got these two button-up henley long sleeve shirts from Aerie months ago & I’m truly obsessed. They are SO versatile & are a great transition piece because they’re pretty light, airy, & thin. The buttons down the front are functional which I really appreciate! They look good with all different kinds of bottoms & I’ll be sharing more below. It comes in a bunch of other colors, too! It's definitely an oversized fit which I really like.
with jeans...
I would say that overall my style is pretty casual, it’s just what I always end up wearing — jeans & a comfy top for sure fit this vibe. In the far left pic, I paired it with my light wash boyfriend jeans from Old Navy (which are currently $28 & have been restocked in lots of sizes), some brown birkenstocks & my big sunglasses from Target. The middle & far right pics I’m wearing my favorite Madewell jeans, brown birkenstocks (middle), black sandals (right) & leopard hair scarf (linking a similar option here). Just by changing up a few other pieces it completely changes the outfit — love that!
comfies...
Y'all already know I’m all about my comfies. Leggings & joggers are my go-to when I get home from school & want to get out of my jeans or pixie pants. One of the best things about this shirt is that it can so easily be dressed up or down. In the far left pic, I front-tucked the henley into my camo leggings & paired it with my black Adidas tennis shoes. In the middle & far right pics, I paired it with my favorite black Target joggers & brown birkenstocks. Such a fun addition to your comfy (& nice) wardrobe.
with shorts...
Because of how light this shirt is, it works really great with a pair of shorts because you won’t be too hot on top. In the far left & far right pics, I paired it with an old pair of soft faded red shorts (linking a similar pair here) with my brown birkenstocks for a casual & comfy, but put together look. This is a pretty typical go-to outfit for me during the spring & fall months. In the middle picture, I stepped it up just a notch by wearing some old distressed black jean shorts (linking a similar pair here), my Steve Madden leopard sandals & my big sunglasses from Target. I love how this shirt looks great front-tucked & left out, too.
