Prime Finds from October
Once again, I have a huge list of things our family ordered from amazon during the past month. I'm sure there is something for everyone, including some great fashion finds & maybe even some Christmas gift ideas!
Jergens tanning lotion
Let's talk about our secrets for staying "tan" / having a little bit of color in the fall & winter months, shall we? My skin is naturally pretty tan with olive undertones. Especially in the winter months, I can start to look a little bit green-ish -- it's kind of a problem. I used to go to the tanning beds a couple of times a month to keep the green away, but I realize now that that wasn't the safest & healthiest option for my skin. I now rotate between a few different self-tanners. This lotion is one of my go-tos & I've been using it since high school! You apply this lotion like you would any other lotion, but make sure to wash your hands after you use it, otherwise you'll have oompa loompa hands for a few days lol. This lotion doesn't stain anything & is a gradual build. It comes in a few different shades, I always get the darkest option just because that's what works for my skin. They do have a facial tanning moisturizer too but I've never tried it.
black + white striped thin sweatshirt
This striped long sleeve is absolutely perfect for this time of year. It's a really really nice thick quality so it can be worn on its own & will keep you warm, but it also works great as a layering piece! The cut outs on the sides make this top unique. The length is great for leggings as well! I have had this top for over a year & every time I wear it around my mom, she compliments it. So I finally convinced her to get one for herself & she is so glad she did! It's only $28!
sheer polka dot blouse
Another blouse win from Amazon! How precious & feminine is this polka dot blouse? The quality is truly amazing & it fits so well (& true to size). The polka dotted material is very sheer, but the body of the blouse has lining so you don’t have to wear a cami underneath unless you want to. Cuffed sleeves plus a little bit of extra fabric at the shoulders give the sleeves a subtle poof / balloon effect that is really darling. I would say that the color is more of an ivory color than white (which is kind of how it looks in these pictures). I like to dress it down with jeans & a pair of booties, but it obviously looks great with pixie / business pants & flats or even a blazer!
sunglasses
I was on the hunt for some big black sunglasses & the boujee-er (yep I just made that up), the better. These check all the boxes & are so fun!
leopard sweatshirt
Have y’all seen those oversized sweatshirts from Aerie? They’re super cute, but are they worth all the hype? I can’t answer that because I haven’t tried one, BUT this sweatshirt from Amazon is almost an exact dupe according to reviews, & for a fraction of the price! I love the length & the pattern. It fits a bit oversized, but that’s definitely the style of it. Great quality for an Amazon sweatshirt!
red apple watch band
Are you one of those people who likes for every aspect of their outfit to coordinate? I am... that could be the OCD in me though. ;) One of my school's colors is red so of course adding a red apple watch band to my collection was a must!
watch band- set of 4
Okay so I may have gotten a little carried away..... lol but really, I use my watch as an accessory so once I found the coordinating red one (above), it was all downhill from there! I am loving this set of 4 in the colors below.
cream sleeve detail sweater
L-O-V-E LOVE this one!!! Okay so this is a mostly plain cream colored sweater until you notice the pattern on the sleeves — how cute! The pattern on the sleeves is almost like a flattened polka dot? Or like a thick dash? The sleeves have a bit of a balloon shape which draws more attention to them & is really cute & feminine. The neckline is a really subtle mock neck & really completes the shirt. A steal for less than $37! It definitely fits oversized.
digital meat thermometer
Well since ya'll know I am not much of a cook, I'm sure you are guessing this was not one of MY orders & you would be right lol! My mom said she ordered this meat thermometer & really likes it. She had never had a digital one before & says they are so much better!
earth tones striped sweater
Wowie what is not to love about this sweater?! The different striped earth tones remind me of sweaters that a grandpa would wear, but I’m totally here for it — t has like a brownish burnt orange color, a tan color, an ivory color, deep hunter green & deep navy! I love it! This sweater pairs so well with my dark wash jeans & light suede booties. It couldn’t be more perfect!
reusable straws
There's no such thing as too many straws. I get kind of grossed out using the same one over & over (weird, I know) so I really like these. Plus the variety of colors is fun & allows me to mix & match with the cups I use -- they fit in all of them!
oatmeal waffle knit top with floral sheer sleeves
I am completely & utterly in love with this top!!! It literally looks like a top you would buy at a nice boutique, but no, it’s an Amazon find! It definitely fits a little bit oversized so you could totally pull it off with leggings, but I typically wear jeans or pixie pants to school. The sleeves have a really nice cuff at the wrist so even though they’re a little bit long, they don’t fall off / down at all. The body of the shirt is a really nice oatmeal color of a waffle knit material. It is just so super cute & I absolutely love the floral detailing on the sheer sleeves. How can you not love this top?! The more I look at it, the more things I like about it lol.
adidas sneakers
I was on the hunt of some sneakers that are nicer than my tennis shoes but are definitely still sneakers & not like slip on shoes. These plain adidas sneakers are super trendy lately so I figured I'd hop on the trend train!
brick red striped sweater
Okay this brick red striped sweater speaks for itself & really doesn't even need me to tell you how great it is because I mean come on just look at it -- it's darling! It definitely fits oversized & the neck is a little bit wide. The material isn't the softest that I've ever felt, but it's definitely not itchy. Plus the cuteness was worth it for me!
vacuum
My parents have a roomba (which they love!) but it doesn't replace a regular vacuum. Their's was not working well, so they snagged this one on prime day & are really liking it so far. It's light & easy to use but still works well!
grey + white striped hoodie
Y'all know that my two go-to patterns are leopard & stripes. This thin striped hoodie is super cute & is honestly perfect for someone who works in a school because it can be easily dressed up or down. Fits true to size & is super soft! It comes in a bunch of other color options as well.
ear warmers
My sister had to cheer for a couple of cold football games, so my mom ordered these ear warmers real quick. They come in a pack of 2 & are nice because they definitely block the cold & wind but aren't too thick & heavy. A great choice for those cool nights but would not be ideal once it's super cold!
mascara
My mom said she was influenced to by this mascara & she is SO glad! She loves it! It is definitely the kind that focuses on elongating your lashes. I will say it looks great on her, but I like my mascara to thicken my lashes a little more than that. It's less than $13 & has TONS of great reviews. So if you are looking for something new, you should give it a try!
black + white striped cardigan
This striped cardigan is amazing! Super thick & warm & also great quality! Because of the thickness, it does fit a little bit oversized. It comes in a khaki with white stripes, grey with white stripes, & black with white stripes color options!
kindle paper white
After I put a poll on instagram about kindle verus book's, my mom ordered herself one. She absolutely loves it & I gotta say that I am hoping there is one under the tree for me this year! She said she was really worried that it would feel like just another screen to her, which she did not want. But so far, she says it looks more like a real book & doesn't give her any eye strain.
leopard tunic
Y’all know me, I love my leopard — any colors of it! The base color of this sweater is hard to describe because it’s not quite brown, but it’s not quite burnt rust orange either — it’s a mix. & it looks super cute with the grey & black leopard accents. This sweater definitely fits oversized & is great to wear with leggings. The hemline, wrists, & neckline all have a thick black band which is cute. The neckline is a really super subtle v-neck that I barely even noticed because it’s not deep at all. Super soft material so I love lounging around the house in this or wearing it to work!
garage door opener
Amazon has literally everything doesn't it? My dad ordered this garage door opener to replace one of their's that quit working. He said it came within a couple days which was much faster than anywhere else he could get one. It's worked great & is much quieter than the other one, so he is glad about that. And he said it was fairly easy to install!
confetti speckled sweater
How fun is this little colorful sweater?! It honestly looks like birthday cake ice cream or confetti lol so fun! The sweater’s main color is a really soft white or maybe even ivory with little speckles of color throughout. It’s a really nice knitted material & feels like great quality. Both the sleeves & the waistline have cuff so it fits really well & is pretty flattering. I can totally see myself wearing this with colored pixie pants & flats / sandals in the spring! Fits mostly true to size (a tiny tiny bit oversized) & is $26.
walkman's portable cd player
Preparing to take my CPCE, I bought a set of study cds. There are studies that show that when we move our bodies, another section of our brain turns on, so for studying purposes, moving around while working can actually help us remember things better. So yes, I'm that girl walking around with a portable cd player lol.
baby girl outfit
One of my dear friends just had a sweet baby girl in September so of course I had to bring her a cute little outfit when I went to meet her!
colorblock oversized sweater
Okay here’s the deal with this sweater… I want to like it. Like I really really want to. I love the color scheme & it’s so different than anything I have in my closet! The material is so super soft & feels like it will really hold up well. I love the little side slit & the color block feature. However, I feel like I look like a pumpkin in it... I do not look like the model wearing it in the picture below! I figured it out though after a lot of analyzation because I’ve seen lots of other bloggers wear this & they look so cute so why not me?! Here’s your answer: all of the other bloggers are not 4’11”. So! If you’re taller than me, take the advice from all the other bloggers & get this sweater — so cute!
gel polish set
Y'all know I love to have my nails done. My mom got me this set for my birthday & it's been amazing so far! I love the wide variety of colors -- this would be a great Christmas present!
nail polish organizer
Well you can't get 22 new polishes without getting an organizer for them lol duh.
black tennis skirt
I saw a coach wearing a skirt like this with her team's t-shirt during volleyball season & I thought it was the cutest idea. This skirt comes with built in shorts (that are more like spandex) which I was really thankful for. The waist band fits a bit oversized, but the rest was great! I should have sized down one.
automatic start (for 2013 Toyota Rav4)
Hi my name is Alli Rice & I'm a little bit boujee. But it's not totally my fault. Last Christmas, my parents got me automatic start & boy was I in love! Well I bought a new car in March & it doesn't have automatic start. That first cold day we had I was feeling pretty darn sad for myself so I bought one for my new car too lol.
sherbert green sweater
My favorite flavor of ice cream when I was younger was sherbert. & not just any sherbert, it had to be green. SO. GOOD. & now I honestly can't even remember the last time I had it. Growing up is sad. But this sweater brings me joy! The bright color is so fun & so different from what I'm typically drawn to. The stitching is great & makes up a very good quality top. Fits a little bit oversized & it comes in a whole bunch of other colors in case you're not as much of a green sherbert lover as I am. ;)
stud finder
From my dad... I am very glad I chose this stud finder. It was super easy to learn and operate, and it works extremely well. I love that it has settings for different depths as well as different materials you need to locate. The digital readout on the display makes it very easy to find the center of the stud. This will come in handy for all kinds of projects around the house!
mustard poncho
Who doesn't love a good poncho? The ultimate piece for cozying up & taking advantage of layering during the cold winter months. This one is very oversized, but that makes it all the more comfy & cozy. It comes in five other colors & is $40. Also, it doesn't have actual arm holes, but because of the heavy material, it lays just like it would if it did have arm holes.
portable air conditioner
Another one of my parent's purchases. They recently did a sunroom addition to their house & ordered this portable air conditioner for those warm summer months. They definitely won't be needing it for a while!
cream striped sweater
Hehehe yes, more stripes! I've really been into neutrals lately & this one is perfect. I will say that it fits very short, like would honestly be almost a cropped sweater on some people. I have a super short abdomen, so it fits me really well & lays right at my hips. Even though it's cream, it's not see through at all -- the stitching & material is very nice!
ring doorbell
My parents ordered this ring doorbell since they have had a few ding dong ditchers during the night. They are loving it so far! Especially the notifications they get when they aren't home letting them know there is motion at the front door. They only got one, but are considering adding another camera around back as well.
