Feel Good Friday

Happy Friday, sweet people!

what I've been up to...

Last weekend on Saturday we met my mom’s side of the family for brunch at a local place called TheBarn. It is absolutely delicious! I had a bloody mary & french toast. YUM!

outfits of the week…

For the past few months or so I’ve started *trying* to consistently share my OOTD (outfit of the day) just for fun! I’m typically able to link most pieces, but I also just share it to hopefully give a bit of inspiration & show you that you can recreate my outfits by just using pieces from your own closet.

Friday…

I spent the day lounging in my comfy clothes & playing games at my parent’s house & I didn’t get a pic.

Saturday…

This was my outfit for a cozy Saturday! My sweater is still on sale for $36! It’s softer than soft. I’m wearing an XXS, it fits oversized & comes in a bunch of other color options.

Sunday…

I squeezed in one last wear of this cute monogrammed crewneck before packing it up until next fall!

Monday...

Here was Monday’s outfit for my first day back to school after Thanksgiving Break!

Tuesday...

I’ve had this sweater from Amazon for a couple of years. It doesn’t come in this exact color option anymore, but a bunch of others are still available including some prints as well.

Wednesday...

For some reason I was absolutely freezing in school on Tuesday so I dressed extra warm on Wednesday in my ‘coffee & counseling’ crewneck & puffer vest!

Thursday...

OOTD for middle school game day!

in case you missed it...

On Tuesday my mom shared one of our family’s favorite recipes — caramel apple cake. It’s just as wonderful as it sounds! You can check out that recipe by clicking here.

About a month ago, my mom had a super fun idea that my sisters & I would do a mini collab together where we each picked out three outfits & shared them with y’all! This little collab was such a great excuse to spend some fun time together & my sisters got a little taste of what my side business looks like!

You can check out that post by clicking here.

As you may have seen, I started a new weekly post where I share my Weekly Sale Finds! I’ve been sharing them daily on my Instagram stories & I figured I could compile all of them from the week into one post so that y’all can see them, too! You can click here to read that post.

There’s something so magical about the holidays, specifically Christmas, & I just love it so much! In the fall I shared a super cute assorted pumpkin tee from JustImagineStudiosCa & she was sweet enough to send me the Christmas version of that tee & y’all, it is just as darling! I’m straight up obsessed! She is extending my 15% off discount code (LOVETEE) from the fall & it will now expire at the start of the new year. Snag this cute Christmas tee while you can, friends! I can’t wait to wear it to school!

friday favs...

In case your self esteem is a little low, I highly suggest working in a middle school & dying your hair. Y’all my students were hyping me UP this week! My sister, Avery, did it for me last week during Thanksgiving break & she did a wonderful job! It feels good to be a brunette again!

Decorating my house for the different seasons has truly been one of my favorite parts of “adulthood”! It gets even better when I get to support small businesses in the process, like DeEridania. Eridania’s handmade pieces are just darling & you can tell just by looking at them how much time & love is poured into each one. She sent me these neutral crocheted Christmas trees & I truly could not love them more! She was generous enough to give me a 10% off discount code (SMALLTOWN10) for me to share with y’all as well! Click here for it to be automatically applied to your cart.

We’re one day closer to Sunday which means a Chiefs game day, my friends! Totally not ashamed to admit that part of the reason I jumped on the Chiefs bandwagon is for the cute gear lol just like this kingdom hat! It has subtle distressing & the back is a knitted crisscross design so you can wear a ponytail comfortably. You can get 10% off anything from the LucyLaneandRose Etsy shop by using my code — CHRISTMAS10! Now let’s watch some football!!

Two words that are a very big part of my life these days: coffee & counseling. I stinkin’ love this crewneck so much! You can get 30% off littlecuteesstudio by using my code (SMALLTOWN)! Code expires 12/15 so use it while ya can!

I took this picture of my parent’s sunroom last weekend trying to show the rug & I just can’t get over how beautiful the whole space is!

I love how this crewneck captures some of my favorite things from the holiday season! & let’s be real, another one of my favorite things is discount codes! You can use my code (SIMPLYSMALLTOWNBLOG) to get 15% off of your order from BlessedByBelonging’s Etsy shop!

I love these stacked Christmas books that I bought last year & they’re too cute next to this woven canister that I got from Target in the summer. Fun fact, the woven canister is actually supposed to hold toilet paper but I thought it was cute enough to be used as straight up home decor lol!

My sister got these boots from Target recently & she’s in love with them! She got her true size six & says they’re surprisingly comfortable with the heel. She’s already worn them several times!

My faux fur lined Steve Madden mules are so cozy in the winter months!

& these are my tan suede Steve Madden mules that I wear ALL the time — so comfy & they go with everything!

My absolute favorite bras (are?) on sale this week! They don’t have any underwire & are completely seamless. They cover up all the chub, too! I wear these every day at school & even with t-shirts because they’re so comfy! They come in a ton of color options. I actually sized down to a small (I usually wear a medium in bras) because they stretch out a bit as you wear them.

I got this brumate skinny can coozie for my birthday & LOVE it! It has a slim feature on two sides which makes it really easy to hold & is actually very light. It keeps all of my beverages super cold!

I snagged this puffer coat from Walmart recently & it’s a great find! The hood can zip off which is a really cool feature. It’s super cozy & fits true to size. It comes in a bunch of other colors. My sister liked this coat so much, she got it in white, too!

Y’all know how much I love matching pajama sets! Walmart came out with another good one so of course I grabbed it. It comes in some other colors & prints, but I loved this leopard. My sister has this set as well & wears the top with black leggings & it looks super cute! I got a size medium, fits oversized.

I saw another blogger share this black jacket & talked about how it looked like free people. I don’t own anything free people, but I wanted to try it anyway. Overall I really liked it! It’s soft & warm & fits small. It comes in a couple other colors including a bright pink.

I did a small seasonal home decor collaboration with Walmart this week & I wanted to share my finds again because I love them that much!

I’m sure some of y’all have noticed that I’ve been super into the holiday seasons this year. I think it’s a mix of having a second challenging year (for those of you who don’t know, I’m a middle school counselor & trying to help kids with their mental & emotional health is extra tough in the middle of a pandemic), as well as craving some time with my family. I was feeling the itch to decorate early & my mom gave me some great advice: “do whatever you need to do to bring yourself a little joy”! (This is fantastic year round advice, btw)! So that led to me decorating my house for Christmas during the first week of November! I just couldn’t wait!!

Walmart has really stepped up their game in the seasonal home decor department & I’m loving their selection this year! Keep scrolling to check out how I festively decorated the little sitting corner in my living room.

I love incorporating different textures & materials in my house while still maintaining the color scheme I had going. Here’s a picture of the sitting corner all together!

This is one of the pillows that comes in a pack of three (pictures of the other pillows are below) for less than $25! I have always loved buffalo plaid & incorporating it into my house is super easy, especially because of the neutral print. I added a red knitted throw blanket & love how it adds another element of texture in this corner. The blanket is $26!

Here are the other two pillows that complete the set of three. I love the cursive lettering on the “merry” pillow!

Since I’m only renting my house, I haven’t ever bought a full size Christmas tree, but Walmart has a set of two 3.5 foot pre-lit Christmas trees for $26! I have one in my house & one in my office at school to bring a bit of holiday cheer there as well. My grandma has one at her house & my sister has one in her bedroom (she loves Christmas, too)!

I wanted to add some height & dimension as well as a gold accent piece since I have that sporadically around my house & knew that having something on my coffee table would help tie everything together. I absolutely love this woven tray & the vases with faux eucalyptus sprigs because I’ll be able to use them year-round!

Seasonally decorating your house doesn’t have to break the bank thanks to Walmart!

I truly appreciate all of your support so much! You are the reason I get to do collaborations like this!! Super thankful for this community & how we encourage one another.
