I spy with my little eye...
One of our goals for this blog is to be as real & authentic as possible. In doing that, sometimes we have to do some uncomfortable things, like showing pictures of ourselves that we'd rather not show. Keep reading to hear about my struggle with my under eyes.
I have never really had issues with under eye puffiness or dark circles until my senior year of college when I began my undergrad Social Work practicum at a middle school. Coincidence? We'll never know. But honestly, I was definitely not getting as much sleep & I was also experiencing a lot more stress & responsibilities than I had been. College life, I took you for granted & I'm sorry. Can we try a do over?
I started noticing that I had a lot of puffiness under my eyes & then over time I began to notice that I had a lot of darkness as well. Like so much that one time I was not wearing any makeup & was facetiming my sister Bethany & she asked me if I had a black eye. Okay that's when you know that something has got to be done.
I've tried creams, eye pads, etc. Recently, a couple other bloggers I follow started sharing this product & were raving about it. I knew it was something I had to try.
This product is called the Tula Glow & Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm. It goes on very easily & adds a bright & almost shimmery look to your under eye.
About 5-10 minutes after you've applied it under your eye, you'll start to feel a tingling & cooling sensation.
It's about the size of a lipstick which makes it really easy to carry around with you & reapply throughout the day.
I want to give a good + thorough review of this product since it is a little bit of a splurge -- I want you to know what you're getting into. So just a warning: we're about to get up close & personal, brace yourselves!
Here are my personal pictures from applying this product:
Picture #1 (left) is me without any makeup on whatsoever. You can see that I have deep purple circles. Unfortunately this picture doesn't show the puffiness, but believe me, it's there!
Picture #2 (middle) is me with mascara primer, mascara & the Tula eye balm on. I applied the product & took this picture about 5-10 minutes later. The balm continues to work & you'll see good results about 10 minutes after the application.
Picture #3 (right) is me with mascara primer, mascara & concealer on over the Tula eye balm. I have found that the eye balm is very moisturizing & my concealer goes on very well after I let it dry.
Some bloggers have said that they apply this product over their makeup throughout the day. I tried this & found that it kind of smeared my concealer. So I either do one of two things:
If I want full coverage: I apply the eye balm before I do my makeup, under my concealer & don't apply it again throughout the day.
If I want something a little more natural & don't feel like doing a full face of makeup: I don't use concealer & instead, I apply the eye balm throughout the day.
When I told my mom that I bought a $28 under eye product, she thought I was crazy. After using it once, she was convinced of what a great product it is & bought one for herself.
Also, this black sweater that I'm wearing is from Old Navy & it's 50% off! I have it in black & rust & now that it's half off, I'm definitely going to get it in more of the colors offered. It's SO soft & cozy & fits great. Such a great sweater for fall & now at such a great price!
