Prime Finds from July
For the last several months, I've picked some random things from our Amazon orders & compiled them in a post to share with you. Our family all uses one amazon account, so we order A LOT of things & I've decided to stop picking & choosing what I'm sharing with you & instead just share it all! Since we are a family of six, the list is long & is definitely a wild mix of things! Below is the big list of things our family purchased during the month of July! You might want to get comfy & grab a cup of coffee...
faux eucalyptus vine
I ordered this faux eucalyptus vine to be used in my counseling office at my school & am super pleased with how it turned out. I love the look of greenery & how it can really brighten up a room so I wanted to make sure that I had some throughout my office. Unfortunately, I did not get the green thumb gene. I can keep *most* plants alive, just not looking super healthy. I know there are benefits to having plants in your living spaces, so I thought surely there are some benefits to even having some fake plants around too, right? ;) It came with two six-foot strands & I think it could be used for so many things! Plus it's only $15.99. Such a great price, especially when you compare it to greenery at Hobby Lobby!
pull on shorts
I found this pair of linen paper bag shorts & was pleasantly surprised! They're very light + thin, & when I wore them, I could see my black tank that was tucked in underneath just a tad. I tried it on with a white tank instead & couldn’t see that one at all. They come in three other color options, including a super cute sky blue color & black! The waist line of these shorts is actually incredibly flattering because they’re high rise & they suck you in in just the right place, & they are true to size. Big fan of these as we wrap up summer time!
satin pillowcases
My sister, Avery & I have been wanting to take the plunge & purchase silk pillowcases, but wow they are expensive & we just haven't been able to bring ourselves to do it! Silk pillowcases are supposed to help smooth frizzy hair & minimize the static. The softness is supposed to prevent the friction you get when your hair rubs against a harsher fabric. Another benefit is that they help keep your hairdo looking fresher & less "slept on" in the morning. Some people say you get the same benefits from satin, so my sister decided to give it a try & ordered these satin pillowcases in light grey. They look great on her bed & she really feels like her hair looks much less frizzy in the mornings. Since they are only $8.99 for a set of two, I would say it's worth it!
leopard print pajamas
One of the blessings of quarantine was that the world finally realized that we should make it socially acceptable to wear pjs out in public & then the fashion industry took that & ran with it & created some of the cutest lounge wear sets EVER. & I am here for it 100%! At some places you have to buy the top & bottom separate, so I was excited to try this one since they came together. Overall, the pattern looks really great, but I didn't love the material. The outside was super soft, but the inside was almost like slick? It wasn't necessarily bad quality, just not a material that I personally liked. It fits true to size.
rechargeable lighter
My mom ordered this rechargeable lighter to keep in the kitchen for lighting her scented candles. I must say it looks like a mini taser & makes a weird sizzling noise, but it does work great for lighting candles! & honestly, maybe the taser similarities aren't such a bad thing -- you could really have some fun with that! Lol in all honesty though, it was a good investment for my mom because she almost always has a candle burning. Because of this little gadget, she'll never have to buy a replacement candle lighter or matches again.
facial cleansing brush
Ya'll I am a sucker for all things beauty! I saw this facial cleansing brush & just had to try it. I must say that I was a little disappointed because I really like some power & grit to my cleansing brushes so I decided not to keep it for myself. HOWEVER, my sister, Avery (also a sucker for all things beauty) loved it! She has much more sensitive skin than I do & the more powerful ones really irritate her skin. So if you are looking for a more gentle brush, this is for you!
balanced tech underwear
We saw another influencer post about these sweat wicking undies & let me tell ya, it has been HOT & HUMID here in Kansas lately, so we just had to give them a try. They are awesome! They really do work. Perfect for workouts or anytime you are going to be getting hot & sweaty. They do say seamless & personally, I disagree with that part, however the pros outweigh the cons on these for sure! & to fix that issue we ordered a set of these as well!
striped pajama set
Avery ordered this cute pajama set. She really liked the color scheme & the fabric was so soft! Unfortunately, they were just too big for her so she had to return them. They are a great option though & if they would have came in extra-small she would have snagged them up!
message in a bottle
My sister, Bethany's boyfriend moved to college a couple of hours away, so she bought this message in a bottle kit as a going away gift. It came with all these pills & tiny little blank pages rolled up inside so you can write little notes. She filled them with memories & things she will miss about him. So cute! I think it could also be filled with little words of encouragement for a friend as well. Such a sweet & thoughtful gift!
woven baskets
I bought these woven baskets to use to store snacks & coffee stuff in my coffee bar in my office. It came as a set of four so I was able to use the other two at home in my apartment! They are so cute & while the price seems a bit high, it breaks down to be $15.49 each so I was happy with that! They fold flat for easy storage when you aren't using them, but personally I think I will always have them out somewhere!
long sleeve tie dye shirt
Another comfy lounge outfit! This top is more of just a long sleeve instead of as thick as a sweatshirt. They offer TONS of other colors. I’m loving all of the tie-dye that’s in style lately. My middle school self is so happy! We got a small & it is definitely oversize so I would say stick with your regular size or size down one for a less oversized look.
cleansing water
Another beauty product I tried is micellar cleansing water. I've been using it with this toner for awhile now & have really liked the results I've gotten -- my skin overall feels very clean & is evening out. Micellar cleansing water is a great tool to remove dirt, grime, & even makeup! It works wonders for me! I will typically use it & then the toner after I've washed my face (both in the morning & at night) & the amount of dirt / product that is on the cotton ball is shocking. Here is a link to my skincare routine in case you're interested in some of the other products I use.
striped tank top
Typically my top priority when trying on clothes to buy or picking out an outfit is comfort — I want to feel relaxed & comfortable in my clothing. This little tanktop checks off my comfort box & many others! I’m a big tank top lover & I honestly find that I can wear them year round. Add a cute cardigan, a utility jacket or denim jacket & you’re good to go! This black & white striped tank is different from all of my other neutral striped tanks (which I have many of) because of the material & it’s fit. It’s more of a muscle tank than a racerback which I actually really like! The material is thick, but breathable & is super good quality. It’s true to size, but does hang a bit longer which I like in case I ever want to wear it with leggings.
Dream Big by Bob Goff
No explanation needed here really. It's the newest book, Dream Big by Bob Goff. He is awesome & inspiring!
olive jumpsuit
My mom ordered this jumpsuit & was so disappointed when it didn't fit. She was so impressed with the quality & the fabric was very breathable, but it was just too big. She typically needs an extra small as she is just over 5 feet tall, so if you are a normal sized adult human, this is for you!
plastic frogs
Our family owns a sno cone shack that we open during the summer months. One of our special flavors is the frog jump: green apple, nerds, topped with a plastic frog. It's a big hit with the littles & this was just a restock order. So there ya go, if you are in the market for some plastic frogs, I am your girl!
leopard blouse
Y’all know I love me some leopard so of course I’m loving this top! This leopard blouse is seriously all things good! The body is tiered & the sleeves have a subtle frill. I just love how feminine it is! It’s very thin, but not staticky at all. There’s a button in the back that creates the high neck which I love. This blouse would look darling with a colored pair of pixie pants & a denim jacket or neutral colored cardigan for school. It comes in a brown color & also a white color. It’s less than $25 & I’m wearing a small. I would say it fits a tiny bit oversized just because of the length, but it fits perfectly everywhere else. Love it!
bed sheets
My parents have a few sets of these sheets for their bed & when I was looking for some new ones, my mom said I had to give these a try & she was so right! They are super affordable & yet so soft. You would truly think they are a much more expensive option. They have 4.5 stars with over 120,000 ratings so obviously people are loving them! If you are needing some new sheets, these are great!
duvet insert
And while we're talking bedding, I ordered this duvet insert & am so happy with it! I was looking for something light & not too thick & this is perfect! I'm not going to lie, it's a booger to get in, but once it was all set up, I absolutely loved it.
ball fringe duvet cover
& to go over the top of that duvet insert, I got this ball fringe duvet cover! I've been wanting white bedding for a while & I love how simple this set is. You can see more pictures of that space here.
makeup brush set
Okay I need to admit something & I'm fully prepared for the judgment it'll bring ... Are you ready? ... *deep breath* I've never changed out my makeup brushes & I've only washed them once (last year when my sister found out & washed them for me LOL). How disgusting is that? It's just something that so easily gets away from me! My youngest sister is shaking her head & saying "tssk tssk" at me right now, I can just feel it. I've switched out my beauty blenders a couple of times since I started using them, but only because they get cracked & that forces me to swap it out for a fresh one. Like I said, it just gets away from me! You would think that because of my type A personality, I would have a spreadsheet schedule of when to wash my brushes. Anyway, I finally decided to pull the plug & replace all of my brushes (since they're like 10 years old!!! Ew. That makes my stomach turn). I was looking for an affordable set because I didn't want to break the bank nor did I want to have to search for each individual brush. I'm definitely not a makeup guru, but it's nice to have a variety of brushes to be used for different things. I found this set on Amazon & if I'm being honest, it should be worth way more than $7.99!! The brushes are super soft & don't shed at all! It even comes with a beauty blender, a cleaning tool, & a little guide on what to use each brush for. No more 10-year-old brushes on my face!!
inhaler spacer
I warned you this post was going to be a super hodge podge of things, right? Well my sister, Bethany has asthma & uses this spacer to get the best puffs out of her inhalers & hers was looking gross, so this is just a replacement. Amazon is the best for this type of thing because you realize you need a new one & magically it's at your door the next day!
dish drainer
The new apartment I moved into does not have a dishwasher, so it's me. I'm the dishwasher. I snagged this dish drainer & it fits great & is working well for me in the space. I like that it looks nicer than just the cheap plastic ones. It has a completely open bottom so you don't get nasty water sitting in there either. I guess it means I'm a real adult when I have strong opinions on a dish drainer lol.
eucalyptus bulletin board border
I picked up this eucalyptus bulletin board border for my counseling office & it is the perfect touch! The colors & theme match my room so perfectly!
rechargeable lighter
Yep, another rechargable lighter. My sister saw the one my mom bought & wanted one for her room for lighting candles as well. They didn't order the exact same one because this one was a little cheaper at the time. Honestly, they both work the same & the charge seems to be similar. They come with a usb port (I forgot to mention that before)!
foot peel mask
I don't know that I'd consider myself to be a super "active" person, but my feet sure look like I am -- sorry if that's TMI. Like I'm not an avid hiker or runner, nor do I regularly walk around without shoes on outside. I struggle with dry & callused feet. I've tried all the lotions & scrubs, gotten pedicures & filers, but nothing seems to solve the problem. I had pretty much given up on my search for a product that would help me feet, until I found this foot peel mask. I'll admit, I didn't want to spend $29.99 on two foot masks, but I did it anyways. & holy stinkin' cow am I glad I did! I FINALLY found something that works!! Now, in order to go from nasty old man feet to sweet & soft baby's bottom feet, a purging process happens. The title of this foot mask is "Foot Peel Mask" & it is not playing around when it says that your feet will do exactly that ... peel. Like crazy. Like I couldn't wear sandals for about a week because I looked like I had a disease! It was absolutely insane! & it wasn't just like my heels or calluses that were peeling, it was my entire foot like the bottom & sides that I didn't think were even bad. So, all in all, the mask did exactly what I hoped it would -- it gave me my feet back! But the process to get there, I will admit, was nasty. The old saying, "beauty is pain" doesn't quite fit for these foot masks. Instead, it should be "beauty is literally actually truly the most disgusting thing ever & I don't want anyone to know about this". ;)
tile mate
Ya'll my little sister Avery is an air head, bless her heart. She really has the best of intentions, but honestly I think she could lose her head if it wasn't attached! She turned 16 this summer & got passed down our treasured family high school car, Daphne -- a sweet purple, Honda Accord. It's old, but awesome! Anyway, I can't even tell you how many times she has misplaced her keys in just a few short months. She was tired of the stress & ordered herself this tile mate. Problem solved!
diploma frame
When decorating my office, I wanted to add my college diploma because K-STATE PROUD! So I picked up this simple diploma frame. It works great because it is pretty light weight & since it's up high on a shelf, I wasn't super concerned about the quality. For $24.99, it works great!
The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell
My mom ordered this book for her monthly book club. I haven't read it yet, but I plan to & soon it will make it's way to our monthly book review!
sleeveless pjs
How cute are these sleeveless tie dye pjs? Avery got them & loves them! She says they fit true to size & she likes them because she can wear them around the house for half the day & not feel silly lol!
long sleeve pjs
Bethany saw Avery's pjs & wanted some for herself, but she gets a little colder at night, so she opted for a long sleeve version instead. She wears them all the time & would say they fit true to size as well!
makeup mirror
When I moved into my apartment, I purchased a new desk to serve as a vanity where I'll do my makeup every morning. I'm loving this new area, but unfortunately there is no plug in close to it, so I needed to get a new makeup mirror. I ordered this one that runs on battery. It's $49.99, but I think it is well worth it! The light is adjustable so you get to control how bright you want it.
hedgehog balls & stress balls
I love fiddling with something while I’m talking & I’ve found that it distracts kiddos & helps them feel more comfortable. When these balls came in the mail, all of my siblings thought I was so weird for buying them. That was … until I let them play with them. All three of my siblings WOULD NOT PUT THEM DOWN!!! They loved them! Some of us like the spikey “hedgehog balls” best & some of us like the squishy balls the best. Honestly though, these toys were such a good price so for me it was worth it to get both just because my siblings are a great example of needing to have a variety with my students! I purposely looked for some that would be easily disinfected. These are great! Just ask my sibs. :)
magnetic lashes
My sister Avery ordered these magentic lashes. Her whole purpose in getting them was so that she would not have to put on mascara, however, in order to get them to stay, she had to use some mascara, so that kind of defeated the overall purpose for her. They took her an extremely long time to put on, but she feels like over time she could get better at it. Once she got them on & got them to stay on, she was feeling great & thought they looked SO good! They lasted all day & she said they felt strong & she wasn't nervous they would fall off. She says she wouldn't order them for daily use but definitely would again for a special event! This specific set is pretty dramatic so she plans on wearing them for cheerleading events & high school dances, etc.
makeup organizer
I've seen these makeup organizers & finally convinced myself to try it out. I didn't totally understand the point honestly. I just threw everything into a bag & called it good (obviously super high maintenance about my makeup lol 10-year-old brushes thrown in with everything else is just fine with me). But since I got a new little desk / vanity for getting ready, I thought it would look really cute & I have the room so why not. & to my surprise, I actually really love it! It's incredibly helpful for getting ready quickly -- everything is right there in the open so you can grab certain things. I don't have to worry about makeup breaking or one of my foundations leaking over everything. It manages the space very efficiently so my bottom drawer is actually completely empty, even though my makeup bag was full. A much better way to care for your makeup!
covergirl clean matte bb cream
As I’ve grown up, I’ve come to appreciate certain products — some that are super affordable & some that cost half an arm or a leg. But one of the best lessons I’ve learned is just because you want top of the line quality, doesn’t necessarily mean you have to spend the big bucks to get it. You just have to find the right products! For the past six months or more I’ve been really liking medium coverage foundation. I tried Covergirl’s Clean Matte BB Cream for Oily Skin & holy smokes — this truly might be my new favorite foundation! I’m wearing shade Medium 540 & it’s perfect! I have combination oily skin so I typically like a matte foundation, but sometimes they get cakey or flaky. This one is truly great! The same day that this new foundation came in, some new makeup brushes (that I talked about above) that I had ordered came in as well so I’ve been using both new products & I’m shocked at the difference it’s made! The brush set comes with ten brushes, instructions on how to & what to use them for (thank goodness, am I right?), a beauty blender, & a brush cleaning tool. The biggest perk of these two items is that individually they’re under $10!!! I seriously have no idea how or why because they should be charging waaaay more for this good of products. Anyway, it was definitely worth a try in my opinion & even more so now that I know how great they are!
shelf brackets
My dad & brother built me a new shelf for my office to go above my coffee bar (which they also built for me). I love it so much! We found these shelf brackets on amazon & they were just what we were looking for! I still have two more to use since they came in a pack of four, so I see another project in their future! :) You can see a pic of the coffee bar here.
